So Lindsay Clancy…do I think she was insane? Yeah probably but I’m sick of the framing that she had no help. She had more help than A LOT of mothers. Both her older children were in daycare daily, both sets of grand parents came to help, they had a nanny at one point, her husband worked from home, she was seeing a plethora of doctors, even self admitted into a mental hospital annnnnd she checked herself out early. Lindsay Clancy HAD help. Do I think she would be better served in a mental institution forever? Yes, but it wasn’t for lack of help.

Remember Andrea Yates? She was found NOT GUILTY by reason of insanity for the drowning of her 5 children in 2001. Guess where she is now? In a state run mental institution where she’s been since trial and where she will likely stay for the remainder of her life. I don’t think people realize that Lindsay Clancy is not going to walk free. She does not deny she killed her children.The question here is if she’s going to prison or a mental hospital after the trial.

Respectfully, I couldn’t disagree more! There is a difference between quietly becoming emotional and being disruptive to the proceedings. From everything that has been observed in the courtroom, Lindsay has not been screaming, yelling, interrupting witnesses, or otherwise preventing the trial from moving forward. Becoming visibly emotional while listening to testimony about the deaths of her own children is not, by itself, grounds for removal from the courtroom. A defendant also has a constitutional right to be present at their own trial. Removing a defendant is an extraordinary measure that is generally reserved for situations where their conduct is so disruptive that the proceedings cannot continue. The testimony involves the deaths of her own children. Whether the Commonwealth ultimately proves criminal responsibility is precisely the issue the jury must decide. Until then, the court should not be punishing a defendant for having an emotional reaction to evidence in one of the most tragic cases imaginable. Judges are expected to maintain order, but they are also expected to exercise discretion and humanity. Quiet tears are not the same as courtroom misconduct, and there is nothing inappropriate about allowing a defendant to remain present so long as they are not disrupting the proceedings. #lindsayclancytrial

Please stop assuming someone in a psychotic state has to be slurring their words or acting completely erratic!! ​The narrative pushed by Shannon Buckingham in the Lindsay Clancy trial plays right into the public not knowing how mental health actually works! The DSM is what they use to diagnose mental health condition. A psychotic break only requires AT LEAST ONE main symptom—like delusions or hallucinations. Slurred speech or incoherance is not required. Someone can sound totally calm and articulate while still being deeply detached from reality.
