On 8 April, we were delighted to welcome the family of the late Gordon Pyne to the Cathedral. Gordon was a highly respected Devon stonemason who worked on many of the county’s historic landmarks, including our own Cathedral. His family – including his wife Queenie, who recently celebrated her 100th birthday – generously donated Gordon’s extensive collection of stonemasonry, carpentry and lead-working tools to our Works Department. Gordon cherished these tools, famously keeping them in "tip-top" condition with regular coats of linseed oil. The family met with our stonemasons to see where the tools will be put to use. These heritage tools are now being used by our craftspeople, including our newest apprentice, ensuring that Gordon’s skill and passion for Devon’s built heritage live on in the hands of the next generation.

Looking for a way to find your footing in a busy world? This Saturday, join us at Exeter Cathedral to rediscover the ancient practice of the Labyrinth. Unlike a maze, a labyrinth has no dead ends. It is not designed to make you lose your way, but to help you find it. Whether you are seeking spiritual wholeness or just a moment of quiet reflection, the labyrinth serves as a symbolic path. Try the "Four Rs" as you walk: ✦ Remembering: Enter with gratitude, counting your blessings ✦ Releasing: Let go of cares and distractions as you move toward the centre ✦ Receiving: Pause at the heart of the path to find silence and peace ✦ Resolve: Walk back out with new strength for your journey Step onto holy ground with us. 📍 Exeter Cathedral 🗓️ Saturday 18 April, 1pm-3pm 👟 Shoes off, hearts open #ExeterCathedral #YourCathedral

When our Librarian recently unearthed a rare 1811 printing of the poem ‘Honiton-Hill’, they discovered a literary ghost with only two other known copies in existence. This 200-year-old "picturesque" masterpiece transforms the Devon landscape into what Daniel Defoe called the most beautiful view in the world.
