A lot of work involved there! We have a hard enough job making our own people understand what colonialism means to them. It's hard to be told you're an annexed territory, like all colonised people, when the colonoser's narrative of a 'partnership' resonates with your own sense of national pride. It's even harder to be told by someone that your country has colonised them and their country in precisely the way it colonised other peoples, before and after 1707. Some of us have tried that, with English friends and decent humans, and when you get to the bottom of it - give the a picture, not of tartan and heather, but of history, language and cultural values - it is too much for them to bear.
