Seeing SuleMio finally united at the end made G-Witch my all-time favorite series.Suletta was initially shocked by same-sex marriage (representing the viewer’s common sense), but Miorine’s iconic line — “Mercury is so old-fashioned. That’s just normal here.” — instantly showed that same-sex marriage is completely ordinary in this world. Brilliant directing.Looking at official quotes lately, I see slurs and discrimination still rampant everywhere. It really makes me feel how far the real world still is from the Ad Stella society. Though lately, it does feel a bit easier to rent a room.Calling people “yuri pigs” just because they like the fact that SuleMio are together is nothing but homophobia. There’s no point trying to reason with them, so I’ve given up.Discrimination exists in everyone, whether conscious or unconscious — we’re all the same in that regard.Just because you love yuri or same-sex relationships, you don’t have to look down or feel ashamed.There’s no need to belittle yourself or engage in self-deprecation.There’s absolutely nothing to be embarrassed about. I want to cherish this identity, proudly support SuleMio, and get along with others who cheer them on together.That said, I firmly oppose those who try to use SuleMio as a shallow icon for their own same-sex advocacy.
