What’s fueling the anger even further is the broader feeling that economic pressure is being pushed downward onto ordinary people while major policy decisions continue to favour politicians and the ultra wealthy. Just last year, Indonesians protested over the same kind of government corruption, which led to a crackdown on its own civilians using military force in cities like Jakarta and Bandung, resulting in multiple deaths and injuries, including those of students. This situation, however, embarrassed the Probowo government, as people from all over the world began paying attention and massed mobilised to send food, medical/legal aid and financial donations via apps like Grab and Ojek (the region’s equivalent of Uber) the movement received particularly strong support from people across Asia, especially Southeast and East Asia, while also drawing contributions from around the world. This is why Indonesians are asking the world pay attention to their country again.

Banyak orang yang mengaku memiliki moral tapi ketika berhadapan dengan kelompok marjinal dan minoritas, pola pikir yang mereka miliki adalah: "Kami membiarkan kalian hidup saja sudah bagus." Ini bukan sebuah bentuk keyakinan untuk mengamankan; tapi sebuah ancaman. Banyak orang yang tidak akan memahami di mana letak ancamannya karena buat mereka, dengan tidak membunuh manusia lain saja adalah sebuah kebaikan. Mereka tidak akan pernah memahami rasa takut yang dimiliki oleh kelompok marjinal dan minoritas. Sampai dengan detik ini, gerombolan orang yang secara sadar ingin mengakhiri hidup kelompok marjinal dan minoritas akan terus beranggapan bahwa mereka terusik. Ketenangan dan kenormalan yang selama ini mereka nikmati, "diganggu" oleh sekelompok orang yang hanya ingin mendapatkan apa yang menjadi haknya. Mereka akan selalu menemukan justifikasi untuk melakukan penindasan. Gw akan selalu berdiri bersama kaum marjinal dan minoritas. Walaupum gw tidak sepenuhnya bisa memahami ketakutan yang mereka hadapi setiap harinya, gw akan tetap bersama mereka. Hal ini tentu akan membuat beberapa pihak tidak nyaman. Bagus. Kalau Pertamax naik, sebagian orang bakal pindah ke Pertalite. Masalahnya, Pertalite itu kuotanya terbatas. Kalau yang ngantri makin banyak, tekanan ke stok juga makin besar. 2. Pertalite makin rame Kalau permintaan naik terus, antrean makin panjang. Yang biasanya isi santai jadi rebutan. Yang nggak kebagian? Ya terpaksa beli BBM yang lebih mahal. 3. Biaya transportasi dan logistik pelan-pelan ikut naik Di negara kepulauan kayak Indonesia, hampir semua barang harus diangkut. Begitu biaya energi naik, biaya distribusi ikut naik.
