We need a better Brexit deal and 2/3 of the public agree. Forget the politics, this is about jobs, trade and putting money in peoples’ pockets.
Liam Byrne MP@liambyrnemp

Ten years on, I’m not sure people voted for what Brexit has delivered. The value of new trade deals? Around £14bn a year. The cost of Brexit to the economy? Closer to £180bn a year. In committee today, we confronted the gap between promise and reality — and why fixing Brexit now matters. With thanks to @nowak_paul from @The_TUC and all our witnesses for laying bare the challenge.

Macaabi Tel Aviv fans should be allowed to attend their team’s match with Aston Villa - but let’s not underestimate the serious risk of disorder. Macaabi fans should be protected before, during and after the game, but at the same time @WMPolice need to make it clear that if any travelling fans sing racist chants or attempt to carry out any racist attacks (as some Macaabi fans have a history of doing) they will be instantly arrested and prosecuted.

This is the wrong decision. We will not tolerate antisemitism on our streets. The role of the police is to ensure all football fans can enjoy the game, without fear of violence or intimidation. bbc.co.uk/sport/football…

The Prime Minister is right. Fans should not be prevented from attending a football match in our city because of threats or violence. I told the Chief Constable over a week ago that I did not believe a ban on Maccabi Tel Aviv fans was the right action & that remains my view. 1/2

This October, we are launching our campaign to #CleartheAir Birmingham💚 We’re tackling air pollution by installing Air Quality Monitors in schools across our city which give us real time data. That’s why we know that POLLUTION SPIKES DURING THE SCHOOL RUN 💨 Even one minute of idling creates harmful pollution. But there’s something simple we can all do. TURN OFF YOUR ENGINE WHEN PARKED.

This is incredibly welcome news. For far too long, our high streets have become saturated with vape shops, bookmakers, and so-called ‘barbers’ that offer little value to the local community. These businesses often displace traditional shops, undermine the character of our local centres, and make the area feel less welcoming for families. Empowering local communities to take back control of their high streets is a vital step toward revitalising these spaces and restoring pride in where we live👏🏽 This 👇🏽

New pedestrian refuge on Bournville Lane complete, so it's easier/safer to cross Bournville Lane near junction with Selly Oak Rd. Thanks all residents who pressed for this & thanks BCC transport projects, sorry it's taken while but glad we were able to get it done @fredgrindrod!
