Did you know Hirohiko Araki? #75 - Araki's approach to gender in art: When coming up with poses for his characters, Araki frequently references magazines like Vogue Italia and the likes for inspiration. As it turns out, most of the time, the poses he references are those of women, even when drawing a male character. In a 2001 interview to Comickers, Araki explained his mindset regarding drawing characters: "I don't distinguish between men and women; I perceive them simply as human beings. For future manga series, it might be better not to make such distinctions." Despite being from a 2001 interview, I personally believe this approach might've eventually led to the creation of part 9's Dragona Joestar, who is notably a character that (at the time of writing) seems to not conform to the standard labels of gender. #jojo_anime #JoJosBizarreAdventure
