Mainstream media won’t ask the questions. But opposition and people of this country will.
👉 Large number of Twitter accounts that hold the govt accountable, ask tough questions, and are citizens of India - have been blocked in India.
👉 Several YouTube channels have been demonetized, Instagram accounts have been banned in India and Instagram reels and content are being deleted as per the govt’s will. Facebook accounts are being withheld.
👉 This is being done by Ashwini Vaishnaw’s Ministry of Electronics & IT, and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
👉 They issue orders under Section 69A of the IT Act, which forces social media platforms to delete or withhold accounts as directed.
👉 Bureaucrats sitting in the government will decide what is posted on social media, what is acceptable, and what is not. Anything critical of the Prime Minister will have to go.
👉 This is the biggest attack on the freedom of speech and expression guaranteed to us by our Constitution.
