At the @scilorg conference. Donna Ockenden says she has come across a maternity unit in Yorkshire where starving mothers can 'ask for Wendy'* and they will be given a plain bag by midwives with essential food to take home. The UK is the sixth largest economy in the world.

People don't like to talk about loss or grief, but we should. We should talk about it so that it can't be ignored, so that eventually the message is heard and these tragedies become a thing of the past. We can all be allies in the campaign for safer maternity care. 3/3

We can all imagine the horror of what these families have been through and go through on a daily basis; we just don't want to. What is truly unimaginable is how they had the strength to stand up and tell their stories. And because of that we shouldn't shy away from this. 2/

You could not fail to be moved by the families' stories in the #Maternity: #BrokenTrust documentary last night. They spoke with such dignity and clarity about the worst events of their lives. Events that people will say they cannot imagine, but they can. 1/

I would like to pay tribute to all the bereaved parents who lead quiet battles. Some scared to jeopardise the legal processes they're going through, some who choose to keep their stories private. From their messages, it's the love for their children which shines through.

@EmilyJBarley Another deleted post that I managed to screenshot. I can't believe maternity professionals are out here posting this stuff?! The 'pursuing a hateful agenda' line, talking about families that have lost their babies made me feel sick.

We assisted our clients to obtain answers about what happened to their daughter who was sadly stillborn. Maternity care in the UK is regularly in the news because of tragic losses that should have been unavoidable, and this is one of those cases...

@Cray_tweets1 @veggieequallife In typical lawyer fashion, I'm going to sit on the fence a bit. It'll depend on whether it is expected that the PA should have provided the info, or whether Dr on-call should've asked for it. Could be both of them, or just one & will depend on expert opinion

Hypothetical scenario: Phone referral made by Physician Associate to a doctor on-call in another speciality. Referral didn't include essential information leading to patient care being delayed/substandard/compromised. Who would bear the medicolegal responsibility?

Why is it when people are at their most vulnerable & cannot advocate for themselves, the care provided can be of the poorest standard? What has happened to the "care" in healthcare? #MentalHealthAwareness #MentalHealthMatters

An inquest jury found that staff skipped checks on a vulnerable patient, but falsely recorded that they'd been done. Multiple missed opportunities meant that the patient died. How have such poor practice become commonplace? bbc.co.uk/news/uk-englan…

Losing a loved one because of medical mistakes is devastating. An inquest into the death of a loved one can be an incredibly heart-wrenching & exhausting ordeal We specialise in representing families at inquests & supporting them to get answers about what happened
MDS | Moosa-Duke Solicitors@moosa_duke

We represented our client in an Inquest into the death of her husband. He sadly died following a routine procedure to remove gallstones. Please contact us if you are concerned about the care provided to one of your loved ones, or if you need assistance with an Inquest.

Happy #InternationalWomensDay to all the strong, capable, fierce, dynamic, wonderful, amazing women out there - the ones I know, & the ones I don't. This is for you even if you don't feel strong, capable, fierce, dynamic, wonderful, or amazing. You've got this, & we've got you.
