Today marks the 25th anniversary of Hampton Roads Transit!🎉🚌 Here's some words about this important occasion from our CEO, Mr. William Harrell 👇🧵

🚨Service Alert 🚨Possible high winds & flooding are expected in the Hampton Roads area due to Hurricane Erin. We will continue to operate w/regular schedule, but customers can expect delays & impromptu detours. Stay updated by registering for Customer Alerts on our website.

🚨 Service Alert 🚨 On Memorial Day, HRT services will operate on a Saturday schedule. The ferry will operate on its regular Summer weekday schedule. Transit center info booths and admin facilities will be closed. Customer Service will be available via phone from 9AM to 4 PM.

Starting Tuesday, 4/8, The High Street Ferry Dock will be closed until further notice due to construction. Ferry customers will have to board and disembark the Elizabeth River Ferry at the North Landing Ferry Dock. Customers may also use the Route 45 at Crawford and County.

Route schedules in pamphlets and on gohrt.com will remain in effect. The upgrade is expected to be completed by Sunday, April 6, 2025.

This process will impact the "My Stop" feature on GoHRT.com and third-party trackers such as Google Maps. There will also be limited or no highlighting of trip schedules on gohrt.com to indicate delays (yellow) or cancellations (red).

Starting on the morning of Saturday, April 5, 2025, HRT will be conducting an upgrade of its bus tracking system. During this period, Customer Service representatives in the Call Center will not have the ability to provide minute-by-minute updates on bus locations.

Free parking is available at MacArthur South Garage. @gohrt_com light rail and ferry service is also free!

We're excited to send a H(EA)RT to @gohrt_com this #TransitCrushTuesday 💙💚. Their ridership levels went through the roof in 2024, and the agency had the third-highest increase in ridership nationally among transit agencies of similar size 📈.

UPDATE: HRT will resume regular service on Sun, 2/23/25! All services (bus, light rail, ferry, Paratransit, OnDemand, and Base Express) will operate on a regular Sunday schedule. Same goes for transit centers and Customer Service call centers!

🚨 Service Alert 🚨 On Presidents’ Day, all HRT services will operate on their regular schedule. Transit center info booths and public access to all administrative facilities will be closed. The Customer Service Call Center will be available from 9 AM – 4 PM.
