@ChrisGPackham @BorisJohnson @COP26 @ExtinctionR The HS2 Ph1 ES(Vol 3, Sect.5: 5.1.14) indicates that the project would increase carbon emissions over 60yrs by between 2.1 and 2.6 mega tonnes of CO2e and after 120yrs still not have paid back the carbon debt of its construction. Carbon payback should be <10yrs to be effective!
