started dating this guy about six months ago. I met him in Enugu last year. Yes, he provides for me sometimes and I appreciated that but I didn’t know it came with ownership. Anytime I told him a friend gifted me money or helped me, he would get angry and demand I return it. Like help from another human being was an insult to his ego. On my birthday, he approved my small party even though he wasn’t in town. When he came back, he made me refund the money people sprayed me. I had to give it away just to keep peace. This January was the worst. My school clearance was 200k. He couldn’t help, so I begged my boss and got the money myself. When he found out, he beat me badly. Imagine being punished for solving your own problem. Some men don’t want to love you they want to control you.And the moment you show you can survive without them, their ego turns into violence. Is it a crime to accept gift/ money while you’re in a relationship?
