@MedievalPigment hello and a request for a bit of community outreach/plantswapping with #GrantonCastleGarden. We have baby hollyhocks in abundance and wondered if you would like some for your pigment garden? Would like to grow woad and wondered if you had any seedheads spare?

@tinyredbook @MedievalPigment we have loads of weld if you need at #GrantonCastleGarden too. Met some of the @LAMPS_Edinburgh folk a few years ago when first starting the garden. Have been ecoprinting and dyeing with willow bark and a variety of leaves..

@TheBotanics @RBGE_Science Still think we should plant more though where there is space and habitat. Planted a small stand of them under the baby damsons along with native ferns already established. The rabbits don't eat them!

A beautifully illustrated guide to Edinburgh's shore and life you might find there. We hope to celebrate the walled garden's historic links with the shore on the 4th May Open Day, when Henry VIII's troops came ashore at Granton Beach to burn Edinburgh @ScotUrbanPast @sglheritage

@wardiebaybeach @edinsketcher The first was started from fresh willow twigs, steeped and simmered in water with a little washing soda for alkalinity. Resulting solution concentrated, filtered and mixed with stabiliser. Susan's first recipe is written beautifully in the ink.

@grantoncastle @edinsketcher I will be there. Do you start with dry pigment or do the dyes begin as solution?
