A big Trump defeat in November creates space for a new vision that holds together the anti-Trump coalition. This coalition is the newest and fastest growing “base” in our politics and, while it spans a lot of disagreement all the way from Haley/DeSantis voters to conservative Biden Ds, there are clear principles that can hold us together after Trump is gone. It isn’t a return to Reaganism—it’s something new. And the country badly needs it. That’s the bigger project. And it’s part of why defeating Trump in November is so important.
