Do not learn human nature. Learn human capability. Human nature is the study of what we are at our worst. Capability is the understanding of what's possible.

Indeed it is! I made a promise to deliver some content today and I'm not going to break that promise. Had a presentation this morning and have been re-working a video script for going on 8 hours now. Really tough topic to get exactly right, but almost there! (breaking down the definition of ability and designing a framework for how to understand, quantify, and grow it...fun challenge)

Reflection cue for the EOY - think about all the places you put effort, albeit small. Remember perfect is the enemy of progress. #reflections #2023

To operate effectively through a crisis: Focus sharply on the *one thing* you can do next. Paralysis comes when people sit in emotion & overwhelm. "One thing" mindset begins motion - with a simple, clear foot forward. Do one thing...recenter, do another & keep going.

I really like the phrasing of "scaling" product development. So much of what we do when building a product is focused on scaling the product itself, not the team. But as a product leader, we should be thinking of how to scale our efforts as well.

give a good idea to a mediocre team, they will screw it up; give a mediocre idea to a great team, they will either fix it or throw it away and come up with something that works - ed catmull

Research is an input to strategy. It is 100% of the input to a mediocre strategy. It is less than 10% of the input to a brilliant strategy.

@shreyas Great point. There is a big difference between optimism and enthusiasm. Optimism comes with the baggage of hope creating the possibility and permission for unthinking behavior. Just about any cultural idea that creates permission to not think is going to bite back.

@Subconscious_VC Peer-to-peer recommendations for professionals. Gamify amd reduce friction for colleagues to provide recommendations for each other. Also, extract relevancy for hiring managers so that it’s easier to find candidates that fit the job/culture.

chatGPT prediction. Google will come up with a better version soon and kill openAI’s chatGPT. openAI does not have anything differentiated vs google in the long run. You can’t win against a behemoth on its turf without having a competition moat. #chatgpt #google
