@quartzmorrigan I think the lyrics can be indirect or metaphorical, so long as the emotion behind it driving it is genuine. If there are people in the genre without genuine emotions just writing emo music to fit in, fuck this scene

personally i believe lyrics are the most important part of making something work in a genre with “emotional” in the title but i’m proven time and time again to be deeply and profoundly incorrect
