▼悲劇の始まり（1959年）
・インドの貧しい村で働くマンジさん。ある日、山を越えて食事を運んでいた最愛の妻が岩山で滑落し重傷を負う。しかし、最寄りの病院までは険しい山に阻まれ、55kmもの迂回が必要だった。結局、妻は手遅れとなり死亡。「道さえあれば助かった」――その絶望が、彼を狂気的な行動へ突き動かした
▼22年間の「孤独な戦争」
・翌1960年、彼はハンマーとノミだけを手に山へ向かった。「山を切り拓いて道を作る」という無謀な計画に、村人は「狂ったか」「無理だ」と嘲笑。父親からも「家族を捨てたのか」と叱責され、警察に逮捕を脅されても、彼は毎日山へ通い、巨大な岩を一個ずつ削り続けた。
その期間、実に22年。
▼1982年、奇跡の開通
・長さ110m、幅9mにわたる切り通しの道がついに完成。これにより町までの距離は55kmから15kmに激減。周辺60以上の村の子供たちが学校へ通えるようになり、急患も救われるようになった。嘲笑していた村人たちは、最後には彼を「マウンテン・マン」と呼び、英雄として称えた
▼国家が認めた「愛の形」
・2007年に死去した際、政府は異例の「州葬」を執り行い、州首相は面会時に「あなたこそ座るべきだ」と自分の椅子を譲って敬意を表した。2015年にはボリウッドで映画化もされ、彼の開けた道は今、立派に舗装され多くの命を繋いでいる

why are you sending me Bangladeshi origin delivery guys here in Bangalore every 2nd or 3rd order? I understand the distinction between east and west bengali owing to have been born in Calcutta to a Calcuttan mother. Plus the service is terrible. There was a sticky substance on my yogurt pack a few days ago and tonight my diet coke can was covered in mud. Help gave me refund option which I took. But why would a diet coke can be covered in mud in the first place? What is going on? Anyone else have such experiences with clearly Bangladeshi delivery in Bangalore?
