@DougAMacgregor No, she hasn't suspended the Agreement.
She suspended its automatic renewal.
It continues to apply for a six-month notice period, to expire mid-October - unless the government reverses course or negotiates something new.
Big deal, but not THAT big.

📝 Magyar Talks Loudly
and acts quietly
As expected, Péter Magyar is in no hurry to dramatically change course after his victory.
He has already stated that Hungary will continue buying Russian oil, supports blocking the €90 billion EU loan to Ukraine, and will not change its position against accelerated Ukrainian EU membership.
On other issues, including domestic policy, the future direction remains vague.
Globally, Hungary’s relations with both Russia and the European Commission are unlikely to see any real shifts — only the tone may become more diplomatic and evasive.
For now, the loudest thing is the political theater: public accusations against the previous government and complaints about destroyed documents.
Talk is loud, but real action is still quiet.

🇪🇺🇭🇺 It took less than 24 hours for Brussels to reveal its 27-point list of demands that the new Hungarian government must comply with to unfreeze billions in EU funding — it's a dose of reality for Magyar before he's even started.
According to the Financial Times, the European Commission will insist on sweeping reforms to gut out any remnants of Orbánism from the country.
Lift Orbán's veto on Russian sanctions. Support funding and closer ties with Ukraine. Roll back Orbán's hardline asylum policy.
In short: abandon much of what he campaigned on.
Magyar thought he could do better than Orbán and straddle both sides: keep sovereignty, keep cheap energy, keep borders tight… while getting EU cash.
Now, he’s finding out why Orbán fought Brussels in the first place.
To be "welcomed back into Europe," Magyar can't have it both ways. Will he disappoint his voters, or the Eurocrats who cheered on his victory?
Could the honeymoon be over before it's even started?

To recap:
1. The EU Council blocked $40 billion to Hungary because it wouldn't give NGOs control over its courts.
2. The EU Court blocked Hungary from passing a FARA law to see whether NGOs there were funded by the EU.
3. The EU Council announced it would centralize voting power on EU accession to block Hungary from having a vote in the future if Orban won the election.
4. The EU flooded Hungary with political NGOs to back Magyar's campaign to oust Orban from power so Hungary would bend to the EU on Ukraine accession, mass immigration, MMIWG2SLGBTQQIA+, etc.
5. Magyar wins, the EU immediately imposes a 27-point conditions list for Hungary to unblock the funds, including on Ukraine accession, mass immigration, MMIWG2SLGBTQQIA+, etc.
6. The EU Commissioner comes out and says she's actually going to centralize voting power to cut out EU members like Hungary anyway.

Right now, all eyes (and cash) among EU Blobsters are on Hungary's election, which is 2 months away, where untold foreign millions could be pouring in to covertly fund this guy's astroturfed campaign, because the Biden Admin & EU teamed up to force Hungary to repeal its FARA law

@nikstankovic_ "Magyar will resist for a year or two, then capitulate"
Probably closer to a month or two.

I am by no means expert on Hungarian politics though I probably know a bit more than most of you given Hungary is next door.
Unlike most Europeans (and Americans like Hillary Clinton, Obama, Alex Soros and Ursula VDL) who already made up their mind that either Hungary has been liberated or has gone to hell, I am still in "wait and see" mode.
A few things on Peter Magyar:
- He was Orban's comrade in FIDESZ before he split just two years ago. My judgment it was opportunistic not ideological. He believes absolutely the same things Orban does. Orban was super corrupt, all Hungarians think this, even his voters. It happens when you are in power for over a decade. Magyar has pulled a "I am just like Orban but not corrupt" and succeeded (pay attention Vucic opposition!)
- Lots of dirt in Magyar's personal life, some of it setup, no doubt by Orban. But not your super clean Christian guy.
- TISZA (Magyar) got 2/3 majority.... 2/3!!!! Hungarian society is not so cohesive. This means MMIWG2SLGBTQQIA+ Hungarians and Alex Soros all voted for Magyar who is 5 miles from European center to the right. That's 20% of Hungarians.
On the one hand no reason to believe Hungary should make a major shift on ANY major issue (immigration, Ukraine, EU), however the issue is Magyar is a rookie and international politics will swallow him whole.
So wait and see, but here is a prediction anyway: I do think Magyar will fold eventually. Obviously Hungary is a small country in Europe and the only way it can resist is with a strongman like Orban.
Magyar will resist for a year or two, then capitulate. Get 40% in the next election (still majority, rule in a weak coalition), then disappear from political life. Over his years Hungary will blend into the EU blob.
Would love to be wrong.

Peter Magyar is now saying that he will change the law to prevent Viktor Orban from becoming Prime Minister ever again.
He's also suspending the state television network until he can determine they will be "unbiased".
He's also demanding, with no legal precedent, that the President of Hungary steps down from their position.
This man is a tyrant.

🇪🇺🇭🇺 EU puts forward 27 conditions for Hungary's new PM to unfreeze €35 billion in subsidies — FT
Among the demands: unlocking the €90 billion "loan" to Ukraine and lifting the veto on sanctions against Russia
The list also includes anti-corruption checks, repealing Orbán-era policies on migrant reception and LGBT issues, and resolving an EU court ruling on asylum rules — a dispute now costing Hungary nearly €900 million in daily fines, deducted directly from its EU budget

🇭🇺 Hungary's election winner Magyar — key statements: - Budapest will continue buying Russian oil - Will not participate in the EU loan to Ukraine - Opposes accelerated EU accession for Ukraine - Hopes the EU will lift sanctions on Russia after the war - Demands Kiev resolve the language law issue and allow Hungary's minority to legally use Hungarian

Péter Magyar is not the anti-Orbán. He is running on a platform that is Orbán without the corruption.
As Orban, Magyar opposes the EU migration pact. He voted against the loan to Ukraine. He wants strong borders and has no plans to reverse Hungary’s energy ties with Russia before 2035. On every substantive question that defines the European left-right divide, Magyar sits exactly where Orbán sits.
What he promises to change is governance, not ideology. Anti-corruption reforms, rule of law, meritocratic appointments, unlocking frozen EU funds. A voter who backed Orbán for border security and national sovereignty can vote for Magyar without abandoning a single conviction. The only thing that voter has to abandon is tolerance for theft.
Orbán did not lose the argument. He lost the trust.

‼️ The Stillborn Blockade
China's defense minister, Admiral Dong Jun, issued a brief statement earlier today, coinciding with the previously announced start time of the US blockade of Iranian maritime trade through the Strait of Hormuz.
“We are committed to peace and stability in the world. We are monitoring the situation in the Middle East. Our ships are moving in and out of the waters of the Strait of Hormuz. We have trade and energy agreements with Iran. We will respect and honour them and expect others not to meddle in our affairs. Iran controls the Strait of Hormuz and it is open for us.”
The entire purpose of the blockade is to interdict Iranian oil shipments to China. The US cannot and will not risk a military conflict with China. The blockade is therefore stillborn.
