It’s time to stop being romantic, we need to ditch stethoscopes. Risk of infection and transmission. Use ultrasound in theatres. Here’s a crash course for anaesthetists #POCUSforCOVID @RCoANews @AAGBI @ICS_updates

@SocietyHospMed For example, we didn’t use the signout room today. We rounded outside of each patient’s room. Also avoided touching public shared WOW (Workspace on wheels) without previously cleaning w Chlorine towels.#COVID19 #JHMChat

@karynbaum @SocietyHospMed Good point. Although I am in my 50s and feel like since I have grown children, I should be the one to take covid patients. If one of my older partners wants to opt out, I would support it but may be difficult #JHMChat

I think the biggest thing which needs to happen is training of hospitalists as intensivists light

The patient had an empyema and earlier in the day had chest tube placed. That introduced a tiny bit of air. What u see is a hydro-pneumothorax. This appearance has been termed a "hydropoint". Others have shared a link to Vopicelli's paper from 2013.

@MDbenji @DRsonosRD @IM_POCUS The POCUS train has left the station. Many societies now with position statements. Looking forward to seeing some more granular guidelines/best practices in the not too distant future! #POCUSchat

@vibharsh271 be careful with handhelds. quality of some is, in my opinion, unacceptable. you can set yourself back.

For someone like me who is in image collection phase of the shm portfolio - would you suggest buying a hand held device ? We don’t have a hospitalist machine so every time I think about scanning we have to borrow it from the ed. Would quality be significant affected? #POCUSchat

#POCUSChat I think there are several components. But one sort of unique one is a need for "POCUS community". I think a regular inter-disciplinary POCUS conference is very very helpful.
