@tasteofneon @p1nkflood it's not SO bad, just weirdly commercial and not at all velvet underground-y. it's forgettable. it doesn't have WLWH's innovation, nor the crushing intimacy of self titled or VU & Nico. it sounds like a mid Kinks album, somehow. would be less hated if not for expectations

@Cricketsparkz i just dont think this very shiny, blown out production fits well with brock's vocals or the modest mouse ethos. it's a totally decent album but i dont see any of the songs staying with me. i just think some ppl dont want to believe their goats r washed lol

new modest mouse album is really just ok idk why everybody else is hyping it up so much. i dont even think it hits the highest notes of golden casket (wooden soldiers) or strangers to ourselves (the ground walks) although it is a far more consistent(ly decent) album than either
