FEATURE ✍️ If the CanMNT 🇨🇦 finish 1st in Group B, there are 495 possible outcomes depending on other results... ...so, of course, Oliver Platt dove into each of them. Here's what we could see happen with a win or a draw vs. Switzerland 🇨🇭👀 READ: onesoccer.ca/a/platt-canmnt…

@tombogert I’m not sure who this is, but I’m confident he’d handle Qatar’s staring XI.

Bit of a flareup after the match. Jesse Marsch and Qatar coach Julien Lopetegui didn't have a friendly handshake. After Marsch left, argument between the benches ensued. Lot of players and staffers in a bit of a scrum now. Canada still clearly upset about Kone's injury.

Not the most challenging test, but Luc de Fougerolles delivered yet another very good World Cup performance. A versatile, intelligent, and committed defender. Just 20 years old. He should be a reliable presence for Canada for many years to come. 🇨🇦⭐️

A crowd of 45,000+ calling for Maxime Crepeau, the goalkeeper, to "Shoot!" is my new favourite World Cup memory. #CANMNT

@atrud66 If this is true, he better have passed a very rigorous physical and scans [which he would have failed last week]. You do not ask a player let the player choose if he wants to be part of history or not. his answer will always be yes.

@rgfray1 If Priso is/was healthy would have taken him over what we have seen from injured Bombito. Has been injured and recovering for nearly a year. He is still injured. Hard to see a few weeks making a difference plus getting of the inevitable rust.

@Bosniac0 pretty well the entire preferred starting line up of Canada is injured or coming back from a serious long term injury.

I’ve tried to keep it short so it stays readable for the casual fan. The main point is that they have a lot of pace and intensity for runs in either transitions or in behind. That’s something we’re not so good at, so we need to avoid those moments. David is a very important link player, almost in a free role. He drops deep, creates overloads, and tries to open up space in behind. Communication is key again: CBs, 6s & FBs. Our wingers will also need to do some tracking work. At the back, I’m not sure who will start, but I hope de Fougerolles plays. Lacks height, no experience, and I know him from Belgium. Could be their weak link. The fact that Davies and Bombito are both out for the first match is huge for us.

Canada are a decent team under Jesse Marsch. Most players are in their physical prime, they have World Cup experience, and being the host nation also plays a role. A lot of intensity, high tempo, and direct play in the attacking area. Lots of movement and dynamism, and a solid midfield (Koné is a very good CM). Their game plan is mainly built to exploit spaces behind the defence and especially out wide. FBs are also used inside. Wingers usually stay high and wide. Against deeper blocks, they’re not really a creative team. A strong CF duo: David who often drops deeper, and Oluwaseyi who is more of a physical outlet. But Larin is likely to play. I actually prefer that. David is important. Our 6s will need to do a good job cutting off passing lanes and our CBs will have to step out and track tightly when necessary. But we have to be careful, because that creates space behind. Communication with the 6s and FBs is important. If we defend those spaces well and manage to minimize that, they will struggle. They’re not really flawless defensively, let’s say a bit risky. Front-footed. The defenders are not very good, especially with their injury issues at the back. They can be exposed in 1v1s, and their CBs aren’t as dominant in the air as Džeko. It’s a team that aims for open matches with lots of transitions and direct vertical football. If you allow them that, and you don’t have the athletes to match them, it becomes difficult. They are decent opponent, but I rate our chances highly. I’d take a draw, but in my opinion there are three points to be taken here. Beautiful country and a great opener. It’s an honour for us to be part of that. Definitely a match we’ll remember for a long time, hopefully with a positive outcome.

@Rossage88 @FarhanLaljiTSN Curious about the exits. Hopefully we can exit on to Robson / Beatty and don't have to walk all the way back around.

80% of fans will be expected to come through the east side of the stadium (from the Science World side). They’ll have 45 screening areas there & will be open 3 hours early. There will be a much smaller entry point off Pacific (near Parq) & a VIP entry off Beatty. Along with the grass field, the biggest legacy pieces for the stadium are new and enhanced hospitality areas plus new elevators. Also a change in policy for the games: fans can bring in one 20 ounce water bottle💧

@FarhanLaljiTSN If someone were coming from Yaletown, saw the line was too long at the Pacific entrance, could they conceivably walk eastbound on the north side of false creek to the science world entrance or will that be blocked off?

@Keith_Wasserman @Tesla @elonmusk Their service has been top notch throughout my ownership as well. What's your plan for replacement of your Model S with them sunsetting the model?

I’m at the first @Tesla service center ever built here in W. LA. It’s the only one with an operable shower upstairs. @elonmusk used to sleep at the center. When I first got my 60 kw model S in 2012 the company would delight me loaning out their Roadster or P85 if the car ever needed servicing. As Tesla has scaled, they continue to really provide that top notch service and I remain loyal to the brand 6 Teslas later. Feels like yesterday early Tesla adopters used to all waive to each other on the road as there were so few of us! Jim Cramer was one of the few people to ever block me here when he was so negative on Tesla and it’s odds on surviving. Or only is Tesla surviving but it is thriving worldwide. Really cool to see first hand as a proud shareholder and ambassador of the brand.

Looks like @MarkJCarney is saying one thing and doing another on guest worker levels. Canada is touting its progress in returning Canada’s temporary resident numbers to sustainable levels, says @globeandmail However, the number of foreign nationals holding work permits is actually rising. In fact, there are more now than in 2024, when Ottawa announced it would tighten rules. @ircc numbers show in March, 1.5 million people held a work permit. That’s a 12% rise since March of 2024. #cdnpoli #bcpoli #onpoli #qcpoli @ronmortgageguy theglobeandmail.com/opinion/editor…
