SCOUTING THREAD: PEDRO BRAVO 🇨🇴 A start in one and an appearance in both of Midjtylland’s Europa League matches this campaign, as well as seven starts in the domestic league, Pedro Bravo has impressed with the Danish club. He allows for much of Midjtylland’s scheme to work. 🧵

Xylph nailed it here. I’d be really interested in seeing A) where these guys go and B) who Atlanta bring in. I think there’s little reason to be optimistic for Atlanta fans. Tata brought in the MOST EXPENSIVE fullback pairing in league history, and they’ve not shown why.
xylph@aufcXylph

its all garth. absolutely zero thought into if these players could play together, just bought them. all fantastic players and id assume all of the players we sell in the summer go onto bigger and better things than atlanta. they just do not fit.

Analyzing Racing vs River the other day currently. There is no truer statement than that football games are won at the margins. Racing controlled the game, especially OOP, but River won 2-0. Too much variance allowed widened the margins for River, and that’s where they lost.

LAFC beating Cruz Azul is underratedly monumental for MLS. But we want CCC to be a competitive completion with a quarter final the quality of NSH vs America??? How many tier 1 players were on the pitch in that game? Alex Muyl and Patricio Salas started that game.

Been watching Atlanta United recently. Steven Alzate is an immense player. So much quality. Him, Matias Galarza, Enea Mihaj, Emmanuel Latte Lath, Cooper Sanchez, Aleksey Miranchuk and Pedro Amador are all extremely talented players. Don’t know how they ended up at such a club.

@Loko_Broncos @RPLNews_eng For sure it was great to chat, I’m curious to see what direction the club heads. I’ll be sure to send you anything I write on Lokomotiv, I appreciate the help 🙏

@IC_Analysis @RPLNews_eng Should be a busy summer, but will most likely sell our 2 best players and sign useless ones in return. Hopefully not though, Anytime you need anything Lokomotiv related, ask away. Grateful to connect

@HalfSpaceMC I’m curious as to what you would define as the distinction between “dominant duelist” and “mobile duelist?” I ask because I’d think you want at least one center back with elite mobility, especially in a high line.

Squad building From a physical POV: CBs: dominant duelist (Saliba, Van Djik, Dias) FBs: Mobile duelist (Timber, O’Reilly, Jame) DM: Dominant Mobile duelist + ball winner (Rodri, Grav, Tonali) CMs: Mobile technicians (Silva, Enzo, Tielemans) Wingers: Pacy Technicians (Doku, Saka, Salah) CF: mobile duelist (Haaland, Joao Pedro, Sesko)

@alwaysmoving101 @DrPF21 It’s about profile balance, and not just with DPs but a whole XI. Other clubs don’t always get it right. Brian Rodriguez, for example, at LAFC was considered a flop and is one of the best wingers in North America now. It’s just most clubs balance profiles better.

Question is: how come other teams always get their pieces play together, and Atlanta united is constantly a team where players can’t connect? It’s just not possible that everyone has a chemistry except us. I just don’t get it - Almiron Mira and LL have been playing here almost 2 seasons, and still have zero understanding.

@Loko_Broncos @RPLNews_eng Oh wow yeah it sounds like the spring will be important in deciding the future of the club, big few months I’d imagine. I’m looking forward to keeping up with the project… when I get the time I found some matches I’d like to watch and analyze.

@Loko_Broncos @RPLNews_eng A move to Zenit would be big for both parties, no? Is the new GM seeking a different strategy than before or he just has some gripe with the manager?

@IC_Analysis @RPLNews_eng No, but every game we don't win, a strong % of the fanbase are asking for him to quit, which is stupid And in the winter we had a new (in USA terms) GM take over and reports said that he wanted to replace him with someone worse And I think Zenit could consider him in the summer

@Loko_Broncos @RPLNews_eng Ahh okay that’s really interesting actually. Seems like one of the more interesting clubs to follow in Russia. I appreciate the help, I’m definitely going to follow this project.

@IC_Analysis @RPLNews_eng ...but there's only so many options who are good enough, and since Loko are clueless at signing anyone outside of Russia, We sign players who are bottom of the table quality. Also Russia has a foreign limit, so can only register I think 12 and play 7 in the 11.

@Loko_Broncos @RPLNews_eng It seems like an interesting project. Is the strategy of building a young domestic team common? I’m trying to understand transfer strategies that clubs use, and most transfers seem to come from Belarus, Armenia, Serbia, etc. but the best players Russian and SAmerican.

@IC_Analysis @RPLNews_eng Tbf I've only kept up with ATL for Miranchuk. Loko are a weird team at the moment. We aim to build a young Russian team but it limits us, after that we panic sign awful players. Our manager is doing so well with us for years now. But fans are for some reason turning against him

@Loko_Broncos @RPLNews_eng To be fair, anything but a loss is basically a profit for a club like Atlanta. I appreciate the help. I follow SA ball a lot and have been watching Spartak because of Barco + Solari, caught some of their game vs Lokomotiv last week. I’ll have to watch more of them 🙏

@IC_Analysis I doubt they'd get what they paid for him back. Max £10m I'd think Thinking if Lokomotiv sell our star player Batrakov. Bringing back Alex could be an option though unlikely. Regarding accounts, I post just Lokomotiv stuff. @RPLNews_eng is the guy

@Loko_Broncos A move would benefit him I think, he’s a genuine superstar. Atlanta could get good money for him too and maybe start building a roster that fits together. On another note, I’ve been interested in Russian football recently, do you know of any good accounts on here?

@jcanas00 Distance covered is a vague metric that doesn’t reflect what I was alluding towards with a Tata Martino No.6. It’s the issue with quantifying the game, it usually strips away context. That being said, Alzate isn’t a No.6. I have nothing else to contribute. Have a good night.

@IC_Analysis We can agree on Nagbe and disagree on Alzate. On Slisz, it's not disagreement, you're simply wrong. He was in the top five in MLS last season in distance covered per 90. If Alzate can cover more, I haven't seen it. And the data supports the eye test.
