Optimal wing balance is built on contrast — one wide creator/magician & one runner or 1v1 demon. At minimum, you need a true isolation threat on one flank. The issue with a Garnacho–Neto pairing is both are runners. That only works if they play narrow, almost as

Finally a Barcelona tactico who’s not La Liga biased.
Roby@RobyPoto

Yes, Julian and Joao Pedro in theory are the same profile (#9.5’s) but the difference in range-of-movements, box presence and the difference in understanding + managing space in the box is night & day in favour of the Brazilian. Also, don’t underestimate Joao Pedro’s bang-bang (hip dexterity to create separation + 2nd touch (the shot) being quick enough and forceful enough to catch every keeper off-guard and score a lot of world-class goals.

@HalfSpaceMC What has Bruno fernandes ever won at united? An fa cup? They have been mediocre ever since his arrival. Reece has been here for 8 years while we’ve been in shit. Stop trying to assume every elite player will jump ship the first sign of trouble

How long can Chelsea hold on to à player like Joao Pedro if they’re not in winning position anytime soon? You can say he has a 6 yrs contract but keeping an unhappy player has never helped anyone & that will be the case if Chelsea don’t show ambition this summer. And the show of ambition has to start with appointing Xabi Alonso.

@ItsDaQB @RedMedia_us If he didn’t care and dropped good music then it would be different. But it seems like him not caring instead causes him to drop mid after mid

@RedMedia_us I really don’t think Drake cares tbh. Partially because he said it several times on the albums that he didn’t care lol

Drake scores the worst rating of his career on AOTY with the three new albums he released today. Fans are now calling him the Taylor Swift of the hip-hop community which literally translates to (mid, can't rap, and no bars).

This is why you need another player who understands what it means to be a regulator in the possession based system to form a Neves - Vitinha kind of relationship with Caicedo. So the next Chelsea midfield signing should be a player who is top at orchestrating play like a pure metronome & has calmer presence to defend space ensure the rhythm of the game. Until we get this player, the defensive setup will being volatile, inconsistent & any well coordinated team will always find it easy to play through the middle & access zone 14.

IP thé heart of à positional play team depends on the first phase receiver as you see with PSG & Vintinha, City & Rodri, Bayern & Pavlovic. the first-phase receiver is the system regulator, he decides circulation angles, controls progression speed, manipulates pressing structures & maintain positional integrity. Now Caicedo is top at turning away from pressure & progressing but he’s not educated enough on deciding the flow of the game, when to slow it down, which pass breaks the opposition system. He is very instinctive in how he progresses.

Being a DM is more about how you dominate your zone, how you defend space & your overall game reading. The defensive structure largely depends on the DM protecting the back line. On Caicedo, defensively he is a hyper athletic high volume ball winner whose defensive mind is to chase. But do you really need your DM to be chasing the ball? Rodri is an ELITE DM but he does not chase the ball he makes sure he makes sure he stops thé opponent from accessing the most dangerous area: zone 14 by controlling spacing, anticipating pressure & dominating that zone. He is elite in defending his set zone while Caicedo is elite in defending various zones. Rodri brings stability to the defensive structure while Caicedo makes the structure volatile. This is why Kante was not a DM and why Caicedo is not a DM. /

Caicedo cannot be the main defensive midfielder or the main ball handler during buildup next season.

Even as UCL club the only way you can stop your players from going to Real Madrid & Barcelona is by putting yourselves in à winning position. Real & Barcelona’s transfer method is always to get in the head of the player & make him force à move which weakens the position of the club. As a club if you’re not winning on the pitch, your players will always be attainable to Madrid & Barcelona
SAFKING@HalfSpaceMC

Barcelona & Real Madrid can get players from whoever they want to and JP’s team is 9th in the league, no UCL next season. of course they see him as attainable. It’s logical

A winger who lacks explosiveness limits his efficiency in 1v1s against top athletes so you just have to either transition transitioning into becoming an inside forward where you will need to have the core strength & shielding capacity to carry through pressure or you have to have Palmer/Olise frame to glide with the passing quality. If you don’t have either to à high level then you’re a Europa league player.
Daniel@danieIscouting

Alisson Santos is a good talent. He’s a classic 1v1 winger. Good dribbler and manipulator with good passing range too. Lacks a bit of explosiveness and shooting range, but his impact has been impressive considering he arrived from Sporting’s bench in February. Good for €20M.

Just thinking of it, Fofana - Colwill - Hato back 3 is ELITE. Incredibly balanced, dominant & technical. But I’d rather have a back 4 OOP turning into a back 3 IP with Hato rotating with the CM like in the PSG system. Hato in the Mendes role
