I turned out for the teachers rally to support Wake County educators. Our teachers are underpaid, overworked, and underappreciated. It's time for North Carolina to invest in our public schools and give our teachers a raise.

My wife's school in Gaston county can't make photocopies or buy construction paper for kindergarten. They are cutting positions like art teachers, special ed teachers and school counselors next year, just to name a few things. Oh, but the local high school is getting new turf and the superintendent got a raise. There's a construction boom all around us with no planned schools. Class size increases while resources decrease or are cut..Pay is frozen from year 15-25, benefits are declining while inflation has been 25% in 5 years and pay has remained basically unchanged.thesw are just a few of the issues they deal with every day while still putting in a smile for their students. I'm sorry you had to spend a day with your kids so my wife could protest for fair treatment for herself, her coworkers and her students. These are professionals who get degrees and commit their lives to the children of this state, while the parents curse their very existence. And we wonder why no one wants to do the job any more.
