It is for citizens, throughout the world, to ask their elected representatives to act now: It is time to tax billionaires. There is not time to lose – and any country can act, lead by example, and create the new rules needed for democracy to flourish in the 21st century.

Forbes just released its latest annual ranking of global billionaires. The pace at which extreme wealth is rising is simply staggering: The wealth of global billionaires now reaches the equivalent of 17% of world GDP. 🧵

In France and in other European countries, the situation is even worse: Billionaires pay only half as much in tax, relative to their income, as other social groups. This is a violation of the basic principle of equality before the law. And it fuels inequality.

The good news is that, From Zohran Mamdani and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in New York to Pedro Sánchez in Spain, from Lula in Brazil to Zack Polanski in the UK, we may be seeing the early signs of a new cross-border alliance taking shape against global oligarchy.

En Californie, un référendum aura très vraisemblablement lieu en novembre pour instaurer un impôt sur la richesse des milliardaires. Dans de nombreux pays, les parlementaires préparent des textes de loi inspirés de celui voté par l’Assemblée nationale française.

A major British Newspaper threatened to do a story including some of my tweets and making defamatory claims. I left my tweets up as I have nothing to hide and warned them I would sue for defamation and Libel. They retracted the story. The British Press shouldn’t be allowed to bully us. Don’t give them an inch.
