the people who don’t like waymos have never been a girl in a miniskirt heading home from a rave alone at 4AM and it shows

@ablata_at_alba Not really a meaningful difference between running a stop sign and failure to yield at a congested intersection posted as a 4-way stop, which is where I see the most near misses.

AI turret that tazes cyclists who run stop signs and appear older than ~21 (and/or mandatory licensing). I am quite blackpilled on urban bike riding adults because they're the group with the most casual lawbreaking that I see and their level of entitlement just makes it worse.
Nathan 🔎@NathanpmYoung

I think if cyclists break the law try to evade police, police should be able to ram them. Give a week of notice that this is gonna happen. Then tell police "We will support you in all but the most egregious incidents. We expect some rammings."

I know some of you think you’re being pronatalist or whatever by hopping into the replies to tell strangers to have babies, but sometimes you’re rubbing salt into wounds, and you’re too dense to even consider that

Fwiw the problem was never that AI slop was going to overwhelm security teams: the problem was that having their hidden technical debt all called in at once was going to overwhelm them. Chrome having as many bugs as it still does is the perfect case example.

people misunderstand the icarus story. the problem was not that he flew too high. it's that the wings were made of beeswax, which offered very little resistance to heating. with modern materials he would have had no problems. we can fly as close to the sun as we want now

Defensively noting that the reason I was searching “how to get blood out of my car trunk” was because the Costco tube of ground beef was leaking and not for any reasons of true crime.

@ChristianityOn What do you think accounts for the overlap? Consequence of the progressive/liberation advocacy model vs. support-centric models? Something as simple as autistic theory of mind x the number of autistic trans people?

@TransAndMerican Curious why for E? The several pages of “side effects” isn’t enough to scare the actually guys away from it?

I think it should be relatively quick to get t and puberty blockers. I think it should take a significant period of counseling before estrogen.

@yuanyi_z Don’t get me started on the loss of special protection/civilian status for hospitals, schools etc. They simply refuse to accept that the rules allow for it at all.

One of the challenges I see at work is people trying to build systems that place API calls to externally hosted LLMs in the critical path. Is often because they aren’t skilled enough to figure out how to use LLMs to put in the work up front to not need them in the critical path.

.@USWREMichael says the Maduro raid was the trigger point for the DoW’s conflict with Anthropic: “Palantir’s the prime contractor. [Anthropic] is the sub.” “One of [Anthropic’s] execs called Palantir and asked, ‘Was our software used in that raid?’” “So— they’re trying to get classified information. And implying— if they were used in that raid, that it might violate their terms of service.” “It raised enough alarm with Palantir, who has a trusted relationship with the Department, to tell me, and I’m like, ‘Holy shit— what if this software went down? Some guardrail kicked up? Some refusal happened for the next fight like this one and we left our people at risk?” “I went to @SecWar @PeteHegseth and told him what happened.” “That was like a ‘Woah’ moment for the whole leadership at the Pentagon that we’re potentially so dependent on a software provider without another alternative that has the right or ability to not only shut it off— maybe it’s a rogue developer who could poison the model to make it not do what you want, or trick you, or hallucinate purposefully.” “That culminated in the Tuesday dramatic meeting with Secretary Hegseth and me and Dario with the Friday deadline that got blown.” “I never really thought they wanted to make it.” @DoWCTO @emilmichael on @theallinpod

@RGB_Lights That only works for static code review. It doesn't work for dynamic code review. Show me an LLM that can find a race condition. Show me an llm that can find a runtime dereference vulnerability. LLMs are good at identifying static code vulnerabilities. But that's a small fraction.

Let me get this straight. There are people, right now, in America, protesting the death of a man who killed protestors for protesting.

WTF Colorado SB26-051's definition of covered app store would hit anyone with open source software in apt/dnf/github/docker/etc. And anyone who sets up a server that's accessible outside an enterprise, so, public web/mail server or a game server. This is such a sloppy bill.
