I'm not a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because my parents were. They hardly ever attended Church before I turned 12. I asked to join the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I believed it to be true. Unlike my friends who were out-the-door and serving missions as soon as they turned 19, I waited until I gained a witness from the Holy Ghost that God wanted me to serve a mission. Once I received that witness, I was ready to go. Fast forwarding to today... I stay faithful as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because of the many manifestations I've received from God that it is His Son's Church. My miraculous witness of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon - Another Testament of Jesus Christ - would be enough, but God has sent me multiple witnesses of the truthfulness of His Son's Gospel. I believe in the Law of Witnesses that says in the voice of 2 or 3 will God establish His will. Of every such aspect of the Church I've received 2, 3 and even more, in some cases, witnesses that it is true. So, never give up on gaining your own testimony of the truthfulness of Christ's Gospel, His Doctrine, and the Plan of Salvation. I'll add this... Start with the Book of Mormon-Another Testament of Jesus Christ- because it is straightforward and when you discover that it is true, all else will fall into place. Make yourself worthy to received a witness from the Holy Ghost, because the Holy Ghost does not come to unclean temples.
