#TDF2025 Stage 11. Punchy uncontrollable final! *** Wout van Aert ** van der Poel - Schmid * Laurance - Simmons - Vauquelin Too hard for sprinters, not a day for GC. Lots of potential winners. With a punchy final and a steep little wall 9 km before the finish, who will control the break? Alpecin, Intermarche, Ineos? Or do their best riders (van der Poel, Laurance) join a break away? We have to wait and see. EF will ride in front of the peloton just to keep the yellow jersey. They dont care about a non dangerous break. Lidl want to join the break because its too hard for Milan. Dont make comparisons with Dauphine or stage 2 of this Tour. The GC is settled for now, tomorrow is a big day for Pogacar and his team. Teams like Visma and UAE want a good position going in the final hilly zone but not necessarily to smash the climbs. Just to stay out of trouble. If they do so, chances of a late attack or even a reduced sprint are possible. But some team(s) need to reel in the break away! Thats the tricky part of this stage, there is a chance, even for some very strong climbing sprinters, if the last climbs are controlled hard pace by the GC teams a group can come back in the last flat 7km. But in that scenario it also opens the door for late flyers, even from riders like Vauquelin or even Evenepoel. This is a stage hard to predict, fun to watch. Maybe the start interviews can help figuring out what will happen! Enjoy the race.

#TDF2025 Stage 6. Break! *** Schmid ** Barré - Powless * van Aert - Leknessund - Alaphillipe Typically one of these stages: fun to watch, hard to predict. In my pre race preview I had this one listed as GC day with the first chance for the break. Now, with Pogi already a stage win and firmly in yellow, I would say this is break away day with a chance for GC. Lots of riders were waiting for this stage to potential break away. I would say all riders, except for the GC riders. And I include Vauquelin, van der Poel and Onley as break away riders too. Especially Vauquelin will sniff the yellow jersey, like I said yesterday. Being break away day doesn’t mean a break away rider wins. We’ve seen many times teams missing the break, keeping the break in check for their best rider, and the result is they bring Pogacar to the line to win. That could happen today too. For example Visma pulling for van Aert because he is not in the break. Visma - what can we say. No stage wins and a hell of slap in the face for Jonas yesterday. They should go all in for stages and Wout, sorry Trine. Back to the race. My main scenario is a break with very strong riders, 8-10. The finish is very punchy so you need a good finish. This could be so many. If van Aert and/or van der Poel are in the break they always find it very hard to win. All eyes are on them. We’ve seen it in the Dauphiné. I’ll go with Mauro Schmid, you know I like him.
