@AndyFultonCoach Get the players to set their rules/ expectations of each other. What does a team mean to them. What’s everyone’s role in the team. Get them to come up with punishment/forfeit when player doesn’t meet their expectations puts it back on them.

How can you motivate yourself as a coach when players turn up to training and matches with poor attitudes and no interest, giving up before we've started? I've tried the nice approach and made everything fun, I've tried the hard way with fitness punishments but nothing works.

@jinnetw According to rule book, yeah, she was obstructed and it ultimately led to Healy's fall due to her fatigue

Was the decision to DQ Sharlene Mawdsley the right one? According to the rule book, yes. But if that rule is enforced as it's written all weekend, about 30 other athletes will face the same fate. (They won't) independent.ie/sport/other-sp…

@RTEsport Don’t know the rules very well but surely if the case how come girl who overtook Healy should have same thing happen more or less same contact??

@jinnetw @PlayerGaelic I’m referring to the amount of paid as part of backroom staff , players don’t receive anything. In many top teams now they are as good as professional set ups . It’s resulting in less competitive competition as smaller counties /clubs can’t compete.

Is there any team sport, other than Gaelic football where, at amateur club level, adult players commit to 3, 4 or 5 training sessions per week?

@PlayerGaelic @jinnetw The only winners in modern day football +hurling are the backroom professionals who are getting paid because players feel they have to train as if they are full time professional athletes. There’s a whole new industry created. That said u can’t win training like amateurs today

@PlayerGaelic As much as I am all about rest and recovery 1 S&C session a week will have very little impact or improvement on any athlete in any sport

@jinnetw I might go for two collective sessions and one S&C supervised. Whatever else they do is up to individuals. Lengthen each pitch session by 30 mins. Having only two collective sessions per week might cause coaches to focus even more on quality. Rest is vital for working people.

@PlayerGaelic how many times a week would you think club players should train less than 3? Are they not competitive at club level?Do you really think a team of any sport could get away with less?now paying crazy money to coaches & background teams for amateur club sport should be the bigger ?

@jinnetw I’m not lauding their commitment, nor am I placing them on some sort of pedestal. I’m questioning if it’s necessary for players to give so much time to preparing for games.
