I have been subconsciously working on this book for twelve years and now I’m writing it!!!! my dream book!!!!

@chaykak I think refined sugar is a good metaphor, in that it WILL be world-altering, but our tastes and our energy levels will be so permanently altered that we won't even really realize it, except for vague exhausted nostalgia and the health issues that show in a generation or two

the AI marketing message is still "AI god" as The Verge likes to say. Utopia / dystopia, end of humanity stuff. The reality might be more like refined sugar

I think there's still more than a chance that AI is overhyped as a world-altering technology and the mega-expansion looks silly in a decade, if not sooner
