@JCCFCanada Justice delayed, justice denied.
(This is such an obvious ruling it should have taken a day to sort out.)

Don't think this can work. But if it does work, it only works for the USA🇺🇸 (which has the dominant AI companies theoretically able to pay for this).
In Canada🇨🇦, we'll have AI taking everyone's jobs.
But @Shopify alone will not be able to pay for everyone to live.

"If you’re not doing marketing, much less tracking results and adapting campaigns, it’s probably too early to spend your first dollar on PR," says me, your friendly neighborhood #PR pro.
But why? Well, read on...

Are your #marketing getting the results you hoped for? #AI searches prioritize earned media, which means #PR can help you reach your target audience.

@melkuo Because this strategy worked so darn well for so many years in East Germany.
English

@TristinHopper There is precedent for this kind of approach.
But what worked in conquered Nazi Germany probably wouldn't work in Gaza, or Canada.
The people are just too indoctrinated.

@TristinHopper After October 7, I figured you could do something similar with the Gazan people after the war ended. Show them the go-pro camera footage from the attack, to try to de-radicalize the population.
But then I realized they'd ask for popcorn.
Might be the same in this case.

If I could, I would force the author of this and every other academic responsible for our civic anarchy to witness all of the carnage they've enabled. We lock them in a room and show them violent image after violent image until they're never the same. theconversation.com/policing-the-g…

@mario4thenorth We could put a stop to all of it with a simple question that doesn't rely on whether their asylum story is true or not.
"Was Canada the nearest country you could have fled to?"
No?
Okay, think we're done here.

🚨 BREAKING
Canadian immigration officers are EXPLICITLY instructed
NOT TO EVALUATE whether asylum stories are true.
Canada’s asylum approval rate: 80%
Sweden: 40%
Ireland: 30%
And internal IRCC documents prove it.
AI-generated fake stories.
Fake documents.
And NO questions allowed.
The developed world rejects more than half of asylum claims & we accept 80%.
We’re being played.

@mysteriouskat It seems like X leans right because the lefties fled to Bluesky (loudly announcing their move at the time).
X is New York City (diversity + freedom + strangers arguing on the street).
Bluesky is Chinatown (monoculture, nice to visit but it is what it is.)

This is a version of the same graphic for BlueSky. I think the average quality of account is higher — a lot of reliable news outlets — but the follower account is much smaller and the ideology almost entirely homogenous

The question is WHY are these types of voices the ones that are most amplified/popular on this platform? Is it a platform problem or a people problem?
Nate Silver@NateSilver538
These are the Twitter/X accounts with the most engagement so far in 2026. I suppose I had some intuition for how bad it was, but jeez, this is what you get when the ecosystem is broken.

The blockbuster movie will be called Heartbeat.
It writes itself.

@elie_mcn Or we could save a whole lot of time, money and effort. Turns out we solved this problem centuries ago. Here you go @liberal_party

@theMRC To be fair, there are only about 5 right-leaning media sites in existence.
And the ratio of left vs. right-leaning working journalists is about the same.
English

🚨 BREAKING: Apple News promoted 434 top stories from left-leaning sites in March, and only 5 from right-leaning sites.
Apple News is a megaphone for the leftist media.

I come across SO many people. They're in my inner circle, semi-inner circle, outer circle, at the gym, fellow parents, people who text the show - I've never had one interaction, let alone conversation (not one - not this year, not last year, not at thousands of Ajax doors), where someone even mildly opined "Canada should join the European Union". Not the most sane person, not the most loony person, not the person that is indifferent to Trump, not the person who despises Trump & can't focus on a single other important thing.
I've not had one 10 second convo w/ anyone about Canada joining the EU. So I have no idea who these people are.....deadly serious.

"They've pivoted so many times in their business ventures and social media stunts and it seems like nothing's working," says Jonathon Narvey from @MindMeldPR (hey, that's me!).
Actually, I think Meghan and Harry's solution could be to just... sit in their basement. Just for a little while.

Since cynical identity politics are in vogue now, I present this deeply Machiavellian strategy for Conservatives to win the next election:
Actively piss off Quebec as much as humanly possible. Declare they don't speak "real" French. Say Vermont maple syrup is better. Convince half the Montreal Canadiens to get "I HEART GENERAL WOLFE" tattoos.
Bloc majoritaire. Liberals lose all their Quebec seats. Conservative government.

💡 Public relations pro's are not journalists.
(We talk to them.
But we are not them.)
This might seems obvious to you.
I guarantee, it's not obvious to a lot of CEOs and even some seasoned VPs of #Marketing.
How do I know?
I do a lot of sales calls every month for @MindMeldPR
We run through the client's business objectives, their marketing and PR objectives, see how that aligns with our process and results, etc. Typical sales call stuff.
In at least 25 percent of these calls, the person in the company that says they want #PR services gives me this line:
❓ "So... just to clarify, you write articles and then the news outlets just publish that, right?"
🤔 Well, no.
That's paid media. Advertorials. Basically, advertising with a disclaimer somewhere at the top or bottom saying that this is not news. Sponsored content, paid content, advertorial, etc. That's what that is.
(BTW, sponsored content isn't always bad. We absolutely have helped some PR clients with writing thought leadership pieces and getting them published. No problem. But that's not typically what we do all day long.)
What do we do, if we don't focus on paid media?
Our PR pro's reach out to actual reporters in top mainstream news media (eg. newspapers, magazines, TV, radio, podcasts, etc.) and niche trade publications and everything in between.
We don't typically send a finished article. What we send is a pitch. A really good idea, with some proof to back it up, targeted to that particular reporter, so that they will create a news story about our client.
This PR effort requires an in-depth understanding of your business and industry and the stories we can tell about it.
Good PR requires top-notch writing skills and creativity.
It requires data-driven targeting and customization.
And it requires persistence. Sometimes, a pitch doesn't get picked up until the 2nd or 3rd time you bug a reporter (and that's a critical skill in itself: being seen as helpful and not annoying as you reconnect each time).
Want to find out how our #PRagency can get your company into the #news? Let's talk.

"No! True government-run grocery stories have never been tried!" say people who are blissfully, tragically ignorant.
