scully’s little ghost of a smile when he says “you had a chance to love her” 😭😭😭 even in the depths of her grief when she was wishing she could’ve kept emily from existing to save her from her pain there was joy in those days she spent loving her 😭😭😭

@savmuses they couldn’t get back into the work or be with each other in a healthy way until they felt whole and capable of surviving on their own, which they needed the distance to do. mulder was so solid and steadfast in the revival and i don’t think he could’ve gotten there otherwise.

@savmuses yup. and the bottom line was he still didn’t know how to get back to work or do anything at all without it becoming all encompassing and pulling him back under again. that was why things turned out the way they did after that movie no matter how hard they tried to escape it.

@savmuses it’s such a good depiction of something joyful forcing you into survival mode and that’s scully going from the bright eyed girl who would follow mulder on any adventure to hesitating to take even one case in iwtb. twenty something years ago... you said we shouldn’t even begin…

@savmuses literally 😭😭😭 it also so perfectly captures her perspective on what she and mulder went through with the x-files imo. their biggest passion but also the source of their greatest pain. it nearly killed them both. it took away their child. i can’t heal you keep ripping me open.
