Thursday I had a wake-up call, This is the First day of the Rest of My Life epiphany, come to Jesus moment. It followed a dark, spiraling time of uncertainty where I made many promises to myself. Many, many promises.

I’ve had days when I felt that I've gotten nothing done. I got to the end of the day and thought, “Well, what was that all about?” Yet, when I slow down and reflect on how the day went, I notice that I actually accomplished a lot. When was the last time that you acknowledged yourself for all that you do?

An exchange between a mother and her young daughter overheard on a sidewalk in the South Bronx: “You're the best.” “No, you're the best.” “No, you're the best.” “You are the best.” “Can I have some banana?” “Sure.”

You missed the boat. On bringing your dreams to life. On telling your friend you loved them. On experiencing joy on a beautiful day. Why? Because you were too wrapped up. In the way you wanted things to be. In your plans for the future. In your regret. Stop. Be here now.

My son schooled me about momentum. Ouch! He has one hour to play video games. During that hour, he's focused, as if nothing is happening around him, and aims at getting the highest prize. Then, I interrupted him to open the door for me. He opened it, but the face he had was like a knife cutting through my palm. I compromised by saying, "you can extend 5 minutes". He responded, "that won't do anything". Again, ouch. Lesson learned: once someone has their momentum going, you gotta let them be! Even if for an 11-year old, it's getting the most expensive skin in fortnite battle royale.

Do you struggle with being creative? Or, think that maybe you’re not creative? The issue is not in being creative - you are. It’s innate. You have ideas all the time. Thought flows through your mind constantly, whether you notice it or not. The question is, are you aware and do you notice? What stands in the way after that is judging the ideas as they come up. And taking action.

You never really know what's going on with another person. All you see is one side of the situation. Your side.

You are a creator. You create your own experience and give meaning to everything: * Situations - you can see a movie with a friend, and each of you has a different experience of it. * Things - the dress is blue or brown, depending on how you see it. * And people - you create each person you encounter based on your beliefs, pre-concepts, biases, etc. How are you creating the person you’re with right now?

@LaneSieran Is the label ADHD useful to you? Do all the strategies and tactics work for you? Whatever works.

Hate to admit this, but I'm having what I call "ADHD imposter syndrome." Maybe you can relate. Whenever I think about an ADHD issue I have, like task switching, having trouble prioritizing, procrastinating, lacking motivation unless I have social accountability, being very easily distracted... There are articles written for the general audience where these struggles are seen as "normal"... In fact, I even read somewhere, I think on Psychology Today, that many people who didn't have ADHD originally, developed ADHD symptoms since the pandemic. That's because the stress of guarding against COVID, have overloaded our systems, so we now all have low energy and attention span. Tactics that help ADHDers, such as working in a space where everyone else is working, announcing our plans in public, setting timers for appointments, writing priority lists, turning off app notifications, etc., are also helpful to most people. So I don't even know. Never been formally diagnosed and don't want to be anyway. Not just because I don't have insurance coverage for the assessments, but also because I don't want to get up in the morning to do a test for many hours. Especially if it involves the computer because of my eyestrain disability. But in these moments, I wonder if I "really" have ADHD, or whether I'm just in the general population range of distracted and inattentive... I feel more confident about being autistic, though. 😂 What do you think? Are you confused too?

Every system is perfect for the result you’re getting from it. - Brushing your teeth. - Preparing a meal. - Driving to work. - Arriving late to events. - Relationships that last a week. - Savings that equal the price of a haircut. If you’re not getting the result you want, look at the system you’re using.

When you are confused about what to do next, take a break. Step away from your normal routine. Turn off electronics. Create space. You'll know what to do next.

I've been making most of my living from betting for a quarter of a century now. Some months, I lose money. Sometimes I lose lots of money. Prepare yourself for that if profitable gambling is something you aspire to. It is inevitable.

Expressions of love don’t need to be some big grand gesture. Stopped at a traffic light yesterday, I looked in the rear view mirror and saw a couple in the car behind me. He caressed her face. She rested her head on his shoulder. He rested his head on hers. The light turned green and we moved on. My delight is seeing love all around. What expressions of love have you observed, given, or received today?

Any thought you have that does not come from a place of love is a limiting belief. Some are obvious: - “I’m not worthy or not good enough.” - “I don’t know what to do.” - “I overeat.” - “I eat too little.” … judgments you make about yourself. Others are more insidious: - “He’s dumb.” - “That’s ugly.” - “I can’t believe they went out looking like that.” … judgments you make about others. Identify your limiting beliefs so you can release them.

What must you do to help you move from where you are now to where you want to be? What’s not working for you? - Lack of knowledge or skill: ask Google or Chat GPT, or get specific training. - Lack of a plan: get clear on your destination (then set your GPS). - Resistance or invisible barriers: identify and forgive your limiting beliefs. Which of these is most challenging for you to address?
