We always talk abt cultivating skills and mindset it comes to career growth. We should also talk about relationships. Relationships give perspective, support, and safe space. When things feel tough and you’re out of ideas to get of a funk - our relationships will lift you up.

It’s bank holiday today here so no day job things in my calendar. Allowed myself extra hours in bed. Glorious! Finally got around to organizing my closet. Satisfaction! Booked flights to MNL for 1st vacation of 2024! Exciting! Starting to feel like myself again. ❤️

Imagine you've been amazingly successful and you've reached your financial freedom target. Working is now optional. What would you do tomorrow?

@Pam_Rubin1 super cool! and it's such an exciting exercise to do too. in my case, my questions to myself were: 1. what do i want to do more of? 2. what do i want to stop doing? 3. what do i want to learn next ?

@kaxuson It's an interesting mind exercise. I was asking myself similar things: Where might we travel? What can I build? Where might we offer support to others?

@Bell99Lesley Agree! But I have to say that looking back — to be able to make this “cut the weeds early” decision: It needs some confidence in place to be able to make a tough decision for something that seems so small. As well as foresight that bigger problems can arise.

Leadership. It's easy, when times are easy. I've seen managers sidestep tough decisions because it 'wasn't that bad'. Suddenly, there's pressure: Dealing with issues you casually ignored before. Lesson? Tackle weeds when they start, not when they've taken over the garden.

@Bell99Lesley LOLOLOLOL! Jokes aside, I'm pretty sure some are not a big fan of this mindset. While it opens up possibilities, it also comes with responsibilities. And that's not always a welcome thought. 😹

Mindset plays such a huge role in how we choose to behave. When faced with uncertainty, what do you choose to believe? 1. That things are shitty and no good will come out of it? 2. That there are things within your control and there are opportunities to have a positive impact?

@Bell99Lesley +100 This is pretty much my conversation with both my team and my clients (and with myself too) What do they choose to believe? Are the things that are happening now a constraint or a blocker? Even in the midst of uncertainty - they/we always have a choice.

@kaxuson Gotta think positive Kax! Even if thing are beyond your control, you never know where they may lead.

@Pam_Rubin1 Yes!!! We all have different contexts we’re operating in. The race is imaginary.

5 Things I have Learned: 1) It's not a race. 2) Be true to yourself. 3) It's a marathon, not a sprint. 4) Don't set up an unsustainable pace. 5) Don't feel pressured by what gurus tell you to do.

@Bell99Lesley Yes!!! I also think it’s important to give ourselves the time and space to reflect on how we’re feeling, how we’re being impacted by everything that’s around us. Even if it means being reactive and having short term thinking.

@kaxuson It's a good place to be - knowing you've come out of the fudge, and get some order back. I also get reactive when I have those moments. Not so much disorganised, more apathetic. Then suddenly I feel good again and its all go.

When Im not doing well, I tend to be disorganized and reactive. Just trying to flost above the overwhelm. That was pretty much my entire October and November. Today, I feel like myself again. My system restored. And Im slowly tackling items Ive been avoiding. One at a time.

Redefining what “successful career” is for me. It used to be about upwards mobility, high salary, in a multi-national organization. These days its - doing what i enjoy - provides healthy stretch - leaves space for other things - aligned with my values+purpose What about you?
