@RodrigoMulsa @giant_light For sure! I agree. I will say that there has been a number of legal battles over this issue. (Monsters Inc, for example) The difference is that you’re talking about a 1 off case that can be tracked. AI allows those instances to uptick exponentially.

@keithZoo @giant_light What if I pay an artist to make a 100 concepts using those keywords, but still you get 0 reference or money? Is that okay then? I think the problem is bigger than just AI generating art and more with current copyright law enforcement

Sincere question: If you are against AI generated artwork on the grounds that it will take jobs away from artists, how do you feel about things like automated checkout at the grocery store? Is that a fair comparison in your eyes?

@giant_light Yes it really is the source DNA that I have issue with. Also truly downplaying the amount of time and effort it takes into development of style. Mark making, color pallets, content, narrative, SOUL. It’s all a package deal that now gets grouped into pure soulless visuals.

@keithZoo So sounds like the fact that it's referencing ('stealing') pre-existing examples in order to work is the issue. If they didn't learn from existing artists, would that make it more palatable? What if they only learned from deceased artists?

@giant_light Also, who owns the concept? What would be your response if I stole it, tossed it in my game and called it my own?

@giant_light So if you plug in “cyclops robots, dancing, in “Keith Zoo” style” and generate 100 concepts, but not have any reference to the source… or pay me, you are ok with that?

@giant_light AI generated art, as a tool, seems questionable but ok. Copyright law needs to be revised. However I have zero faith in this movement being Artist friendly.

@giant_light Maybe if there were different methods of scanning goods, different schools of thought on what a scanned good is, and were thousands of examples of check out machines that it would need to steal from to perform its function.
