Status quo versus status quo ante bellum: An explainer to the wailing ADC I asked AI and Google to explain the meanings of the Latin terms. Here is the explanation that I got: Status quo ante bellum means "the state existing before the war". It is used in treaties and diplomacy to describe a peace settlement in which neither side gains or loses territory, power, or economic rights, effectively restoring the political and geographical conditions that existed before the conflict began. Status quo: The current state of affairs. Status quo ante or status quo ante bellum: The state of affairs prior to a specific event. For example, Russia and the United States are now trying to maintain the status quo about their nuclear arsenals. To maintain the status quo is to keep things as they are. The related phrase status quo ante, literally 'the status before', refers to the state of affairs that existed previously. In the case between Nafiu Gombe versus ADC, David Mark, and Rauf Aregbesola, 'status quo ante bellum' means reverting to the ADC as it existed before Ralph Nwoye sold the party to Abubakar Atiku to serve as an SPV for the 2027 election. According to reports, Gombe claims he is still the vice chairman of the ADC, that he never resigned, and that he ought to have become the automatic chairman following the resignation of the party's longest-serving chairman, Nwoye. The ADC should stop blaming President Tinubu, INEC for its self inflicted woes.

@dawisu The only occasion I disagreed with Buhari in his 8 years reign was day Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru died and Buhari refused to attend his funeral as close as Military Cemetery in the same Abuja. All efforts by Garba Shehu & Femi Adesina to explain it away failed to cut it.

You disrupted traffic on your way to the airport, took a whole team to Plateau, only to gather the people like sardines at the airport and address them. So what was the point of all that trouble if you weren’t going to enter the city to sympathize with the people?

STATEHOUSE PRESS RELEASE Why President Tinubu addressed the victims of the Plateau attacks at the airport President Tinubu's itinerary for Thursday included two main engagements: receiving the Chadian President, Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, and proceeding to Iperu, Ogun State. After Governor Caleb Mutfwang's briefing, President Tinubu suspended the trip to Ogun. Overnight, the Presidential Villa made arrangements for the visit to Jos, with presidential assets quickly deployed. However, the President could not postpone the scheduled visit by the Chadian leader. The President of Chad was at the Presidential Villa for a very important bilateral meeting focused on strengthening security collaboration between the two countries. The meeting ran longer than expected, affecting President Tinubu’s scheduled departure for Jos. Upon arrival in Jos, the visit encountered some logistical challenges. While the road distance from the airport to Jos township is approximately 40 minutes, the runway does not support night flights due to the absence of navigational aids. The constraints made it unfeasible to drive into town, meet victims for on-the-spot assessment and return to the airport before dusk. Consequently, state and federal officials decided to bring representatives of the affected community to a hall adjoining the airport so the President could meet with them promptly while adhering to flight restrictions. Among the people in the hall were the Minister of Defence, the Chief of Army Staff and the Inspector General of Police, who had visited Rukuba, the epicentre of the conflict. President Tinubu deployed the high-level team to Rukuba, including the Senior Special Assistant on Community Engagement, to undertake critical groundwork on security and community engagement, with a view to stabilising the area before his arrival. Beyond expressing his condolences to the victims, President Tinubu’s objective was to engage with critical stakeholders in Plateau State on ending the recurring, decades-old conflict that has resulted in needless loss of lives and property. President Tinubu’s visit to Jos was not merely symbolic. It was a strategic, high-level engagement aimed at bringing all stakeholders together to address the root causes of conflict and insecurity in the state. He interacted with the victims, consoled them, and listened to them. He also listened to local leaders and assured them that the federal government would deliver justice and end the cycle of violence. He promised the deployment of 5000 AI-enabled cameras to monitor the city and enhance the identification and arrest of troublemakers. Furthermore, the President invited the community leaders to Abuja for further talks on finding a lasting solution to the recurring violence in the state. The meeting, televised live, was solemn and reassuring, boosting residents' confidence. President Tinubu achieved the purpose of his visit, despite the naysayers' attempts to ridicule it. He dropped an unmistakable message: sustainable peace must be built with the people, not imposed on them. Bayo Onanuga Special Adviser to the President (Information and Strategy) April 3, 2026

I was 24, a student at the University of Jos, when the first major attack struck our city. Twenty-five years later, Jos, and indeed Plateau State is still searching for lasting peace. This is not just a memory for me; it is a responsibility. One of the most important missions my team and I will ever take on is to help secure a future where Jos truly knows peace again.
News Central TV@NewsCentralTV

Nigeria’s Minister of Communications and Digital Economy @bosuntijani says artificial intelligence-powered cameras will be deployed across Plateau State, starting with Jos, to improve security. He adds that similar initiatives have worked in other states to help end the crisis.

The NDC is growing rapidly, and due to its appeal, Nigerians from all walks of life across the country are rushing to join our ideological party. Today, in the company of some National Officers of the NDC, it was a pleasure to receive a team of experienced politicians from Kebbi State who are decamping from their various parties—the ADC, PDP, and the APC, to strengthen the NDC in Kebbi. I thanked them for identifying with our party and urged them, in line with NDC ideals, to build an inclusive and democratic party. I also again thank Nigerians for their confidence in the NDC and its ideology, and enjoin all Nigerians not to give up on our democracy and our nation. The NDC is the clear alternative to this ruthless, undemocratic, and oppressive government of the ruling party—the APC, and I urge all who disagree with the APC to join the NDC and channel their energies into supporting its growth so we can, together, provide credible candidates who will restore Nigeria. —HSD. I think this is why Nigerians must always have a popular President with a clear majority . Only an unpopular president will not rate the citizens of his own country. He knows you guys didn't vote for him and he won with less than 35%. Thoughts and prayers with the people of Jos.

Upon my return to Abuja, I was parked by a soldier on duty who asked where I was heading, and I mentioned FCT. He politely asked if could lift one of his colleagues to Abuja, and I said it was fine. When I was few meters close to Giri junction, I asked the officer his route, he was heading to Zuba while I was going through Lugbe axis to the town. I told him Zuba isn’t far. Transport is around 2-300 Naira. I asked if he was going to stop there(Zuba), or he was heading somewhere. He then told me he was going home to see for the first time after 10 months, his newly born twins. No permission was granted over the period. Sadly, he had to make the compulsory trip because his wife had called that one of the babies had died. And she urged him to come see the other twin in case he will die too. I asked him why he didn’t leave earlier than he left. He replied that he waited with the hope that salaries will be paid, since today is second, but it wasn’t, unfortunately. How then do you intend to make it, I asked him. He showed me all the money he had on him –4,500 which wasn’t even enough to get him to his destination. I could not help than give him 20k and I took his phone number, giving him my words that I will call to get information about the sick baby. I want to ask a question, please 🙏🏻 Are these the soldiers we expect to lay down their lives in our protection? You’re owing soldiers, and you want them to be effective while fighting insecurity? Sadly, this is really laughable. Allahumma bārik. BMT Ibira

Tinubu is now rushing to give appointments to Northerners. The same North he has ignored in the last three years. Unfortunately for the APC, it is late already. The Northerners have pitched their tent with the coalition. Future political lessons ahead.

Yesterday defenders of democracy, today's destroyers, What a shame. What an irony of history, that the acclaimed defenders of democracy and human rights who claimed to have fought for democracy during the era of General Sani Abacha now find themselves worse than the man they opposed. Today, General Sani Abacha, once presumed face of oppression, will be remembered as seemingly more democratic and more respectful of human rights than the so-called champions of activism from the NADECO days. Power indeed reveals character. A New Nigeria is POssible. -PO
