#LamuPort received its second car vessel, which was transporting 3800 cars from Yokohama, Japan, originally destined for Port Jebel Ali, Dubai, following the ongoing conflict. The vessel, Grande Florida, belongs to Grimaldi Shipping Line. It has a capacity of 9,000.
This brings the number of vehicles received at the port to over 4,200. The vehicles will be stored in the Port's warehouses.
Lamu Port is expecting more vessels to divert, as several shipping agents have already inquired about docking space. Overall Port activity is expected to progress upwards as the year goes by.

With just 30-40% utilization of phase 1 capacity, Lamu Port could handle roughly 500,000 TEUs annually, increasing Kenya’s container throughput by up to 30%. This would highly complement the region's largest and busiest port, effecting Kenya’s dual-gateway logistics capacity.

Ethiopia is home to over 70 million cattle, one of the largest livestock populations in Africa, and #LAPSSET is providing a new strategic link, diversifying export routes.
LAPSSET strengthens the cross-border aggregation of livestock, and Southern Oromia now stands at the frontline of this opportunity.
