I welcome the ceasefire agreement reached overnight, which will bring a moment of relief to the region and the world. Together with our partners we must do all we can to support and sustain this ceasefire, turn it into a lasting agreement and re-open the Strait of Hormuz.

Yesterday in Newcastle, I met with families set to benefit from the scrapping of the two child limit. Parents will have more money in their pockets, children will have better life chances. That’s the difference a Labour government makes. My interview with @ChronicleLive 🎙️

For a whole list of reasons, this strike action is appalling. My top three.. 1. How many people are dying because of this strike action? How many people are having life-saving surgeries cancelled? And as a result their lives being shortened? How many people are being utterly failed by the system in which they place their trust? 2. What happened to the Hippocratic Oath you took when you became doctors? Namely: ‘I promise to make the care of my patients my first concern.’ Closely followed by: ‘I will practise medicine honestly and with integrity.’ You are failing dismally on both those promises you made. 3. The police, who haven’t had a decent pay rise in I don’t know how long, are not allowed by law to strike. The same should apply to NHS doctors. The reason they are unable to strike is it would cost lives. It would cause utter mayhem, and society would disintegrate in a day. When they signed up, they did it out of a sense of duty. They wear the uniform because they want to help people - to keep them safe - to protect them. Yet you - who made an oath you clearly don’t care about - because your first concern is money, are quite possibly causing people to die. You are playing Russian roulette with lives. You signed up to this profession knowing full well what the pay is in the earlier years of your career. Your time will come - you will one day earn the right for a higher wage - and so you should. If you don’t like the pay, then leave. Go and find another job if money is all you’re worried about. My goddaughter is a young lawyer, she is at the beginning of her career and is not making much money at all. She knows this - and she’s making it work by cutting her coat according to her cloth. She knows one day it will improve, and I’m proud of her for paying her dues. Shame on you. Go and talk to a police officer, and see how their lives are. You could be causing pain, and even death to the very people you swear to protect by this nonsense. And finally, the NHS is already on its knees - corridor care - vital surgeries cancelled - you name it… And you think this strike action is helping? No it’s not - it’s causing our health service to implode. How you can look yourselves in the mirror is utterly beyond me. Grow up and get back to work. You are ruining lives - I’m amazed there’s not a class action against you yet. Not the government - but you.

Restore Britain is not going to beg for votes. If you agree with what we're saying, great. You now have a genuine alternative. If not? Fine, your choice. We are giving the British people a route out - an option. One last option. That is all.
