I’m relieved that #AB1955 is now on its way to @CAgovernor. I want to thank each and every person who showed up and chose to be vulnerable while sharing their personal story as this legislation passed through multiple committees and was voted on in the Assembly and Senate. I want to thank everyone who was respectful and debated this bill on its merits without using inflammatory rhetoric and hurtful language. I also want to thank the LGBTQ+ students in school districts that have enacted forced outing policies for their bravery as the Legislature weighed in on this important issue. The very personal decision for a student to come out should be on their own terms to whoever they choose to share that information with when they are ready. Teachers should not be the gender police. The SAFETY Act simply ensures that conversations about gender identity happen at home without interference from anyone outside of the family unit. As a parent myself, I encourage all parents to talk and listen to their children and love them unconditionally for who they are. While some states continue to pass regressive policies, I’m hopeful the governor will sign this bill into law soon and continue California’s leadership in protecting LGBTQ+ rights.

Another states that transgender people can't use services, procedures, or drugs to "alter or remove physical or anatomical characteristics that are capable of someone's biological sex."
This likely includes a whole host of procedures like hair removal.

.@GavinNewsom signed into law our legislation making CA 1st state to require training/professional standards for health care providers re transgender/TGI patients.
SB 923 also requires health plans to indicate in network directory which physicians provide gender-affirming care.

NEW: @CAGovernor @GavinNewsom just signed another @PPActionCA sponsored bill -- one we were happy to support along side our partners at @EQCA.
#SB107, led by @Scott_Wiener, will protect trans youth and their families from anti-trans laws in other states.
