@Justacarehomeg1 Yeh local authorities need to have a long hard look at this as the assessments coming in scream nursing and then you are told residential. Mind boggling! 🤯

What constitutes #nursingcare in a #carehome these days? Seems like one local authority's criteria is totally different to another! And thinking about the #impact to the person, how much leverage is given to #futurecare needs & minimising moves away from trusted communities.

@Justacarehomeg1 The care inspectorate need to go and have a word with themselves after reading this! They need reminded that they are there as a supportive mechanism as well as a regulatory body. However I hope they enjoy their time off whilst care homes do what they do best!

I don't think this is worded in a particularly respectful way...most 'services' don't need reminded about the importance of visiting. In fact, most services are busy because of that very visiting from family, friends & community. Is the insinuation that we close doors when busy?
Care Inspectorate@CareInspect

🎄🎅❤️We know this is an extremely busy time for care homes and we want to remind services of the importance of visiting throughout this festive period. Meaningful contact with families and friends is fundamental to health and wellbeing, and is a key part of our human rights. See our Factsheet on care home visiting for further information: careinspectorate.com/index.php/fact…

@neilcgray what’s your thoughts on this? Do you think the job vacancy in Renfrewshire is more important than a carers job or is that the money being paid doesn’t need to reflect importance? 🤔 looking forward to being ignored as usual. @scotgov @COSLA @scottishcare

Getting paid more than someone who has to support someone with the majority of their life due to how vulnerable they are.Getting paid more than someone who supports a person with their last breath? Is this right @COSLA I’m sure @scottishcare would agree it’s definitely not right😞

I find this incredible and so sad! The basics of care not carried out. Now imagine this happened in a care home. The scrutiny would be unbelievable and rightly so! 'I don't want to die': Down's Syndrome man 'starved to death' in hospital | STV News news.stv.tv/world/i-dont-w…

Is the SSSC fit for purpose? Everything seems to take an absolute age with them!

@COSLA why are care homes required to purchase specific chairs for residents especially when the majority of them have significant amounts of money to purchase themselves? Why are care homes expected to buy these? 🤔

Local authorities allowing welfare guardianships to lapse and then not informing providers is getting a bit too frequent! Very very poor!

you clearly don’t know what to do to fix it. Throwing money at it isn’t solving the problem. Get back to basics. Too many tiers, streamline the NHS. Make it person centred and stop pigeonholing people to make it fit. It’s incredible that we are still in this position.

The system is a joke.People who pay into the system (NI contributions)are being failed every single day.People in pain for years but are fobbed off by NHS due to their BMI being too high yet can get it done privately @neilcgray you won’t reply as usual the crisis is getting worse

Listening to @BBCScotland and the topic is about people paying privately for ops etc due to waiting times on NHS. That’s because the consultants for the NHS also work in the private establishments. Why should people wait 3 yrs for a new hip or 1yr for cataract surgery?

@JaimeJMMcNab @RN_Freda I have had a discharge letter delivered in a taxi. 3 days after admission. I requested it be scanned to me but apparently they can’t do that. And people are wondering why there’s a big black hole in the finances of the NHS.

TTOs are often a major barrier to timely discharge, especially for patients reliant on transport or carers at home. I've seen many stay overnight unnecessarily due to delays. Could home delivery or local pharmacy collection be a cost-effective solution? How can we improve this?

Today was a little like entering a parallel universe - first time in an NHS setting with my new social care hat on to do an assessment. There is a long way to go to improve relationships, understanding and professional curtosey. Eye opening! #socialcare

The senior managers, politicians and regulators for the NHS all need to go and have a word with themselves as they are not managing this appropriately! @neilcgray this is your time to shine!

I am reading about the NHS crisis. I’ve said social care can help with this. Do you know what else would help? Competent people who care working for the NHS which isn’t the case. I’m in hospitals often. Staff never look busy. Wards, toilets are filthy. Get back to basics!
