@rudedoggtweets I don’t go through SDL for everything though. For example the main ideas behind their filesystem abstraction for games are great IMO, but the actual API is missing too much so I expose a similar interface to the game but using Zig std types.

@rudedoggtweets I think you’ll enjoy the talk—using Vulkan directly has let me take advantage of features not often exposed by wrappers that greatly simplify my renderer. (This isn’t a criticism of SDL3 GPU though—it wasn’t ready when I started this work, so I didn’t evaluate it.)

@masonremaley I've started looking at SDL3 GPU since it kind of covers both, but I do like how a lot of Vulkan works after you struggle, and if you're doing something "simple" with it. Anyway, curious how you're handling that part since you want to support consoles and desktop

🔉 Statically Linking PipeWire I recently helped @tuple solve an interesting problem. On #Linux, Static binaries are easier to ship, but PipeWire expects dynamic linking. To solve this, I've open sourced a static build of PipeWire. Read more below. gamesbymason.com/blog/2025/stat…

🔗 Prototype Progress, Monthly Links, & Zig Turns 10 I've been busy wrapping up the prototype of my next game, but I set aside time for my link roundup. This is a summary + screenshots, scroll down for hyperlinks--not my preference, social media sites don't want you to leave.
