@mat_ives @ProfStrachan @BBCWorld It is a probalistic model! It is madness. It is not analysing all the problems with renewables , and the raw materials (which is madness) . Cost are not going to go down. They are going to go up. Mining is a complicate matter.

@SchillerWalther @ProfStrachan @BBCWorld I think you might need to read the manuscript more closely Walther. The model does include a conservative estimate of intermitency costs in that it builds far more storage than would be required. A system with more transmission and less storage would likely be even cheaper.

@ProfStrachan Based on a report which mostly a pile of sh..t , analysing nothing, creating a "probalistic" model . And of course this "probalistic" model , is not at all taking into account the intermitency costs etc . This is not science, it is pure propaganda @BBCWorld cell.com/joule/fulltext…

Want to stop climate change and save trillions? Our research from Oxford's @INETOxford uses empirically grounded technological forecasting to show that a fast transition to an energy system based on renewables and storage will save trillions of dollars cell.com/joule/fulltext…

Want to solve climates change and save trillions? Well, it turns out investing in green energy tech like solar, wind, batteries and electrolysers for hydrogen can not only decarbonise energy but will save trillions in energy system costs.
Post Carbon Transition@oms_postcarbon

New paper from Rupert Way, @mat_ives, @PennyMealy and Doyne Farmer in Joule today shows that an aggressive #energytransition is the best economic choice, even if we weren't facing a #ClimateCrisis.

@PaulEDawson In Nov 2019, Moodys changed the credit rating of ExxonMobil, after including the risk of stranded assets. This sort of thing was discussed with S&P about 7 years ago at SSEE. S&P said it would be a long time before this would happen. Somewhere in those years, was there a SIP?

@PaulEDawson I believe the republican governor of Texas lobbied Trump to not leave the Paris agreement because Texas renewables was growing so rapidly in the state

@KayaAxelsson @PaulEDawson My cousins are farmers in Aus and I have been telling them for years the greens are your friends. They want to reduce your two biggest risks - energy costs (renewables) and stoping climate change (reduce droughts)

Why is it, that out of all the Sciences (eg, Histology, Aeronautics, Cosmology, etc), the only Science subjected to massive and very well funded Denialist Disinformation is Climatology? “Qui Bono” = “Who Benefits” may be relevant?
