New paper from Rupert Way, @mat_ives, @PennyMealy and Doyne Farmer in Joule today shows that an aggressive #energytransition is the best economic choice, even if we weren't facing a #ClimateCrisis.

Authors Myles Allen @Haszeldine @StuartAJenkins @EliMLarson & @mat_ives write that the Carbon Takeback Obligation would require fossil fuel extractors & importers to dispose safely & permanently of a rising fraction of their CO2, incl by the products they sell, rising to 100%.

'Unicorn' technologies are those that can deliver a reduction of at least a billion tonnes of CO2 a year. @MikeMason_CO2 @Camjhep & Chris Llewellyn Smith lay out the green tech potential of COP26 #climatchange #netzero theguardian.com/commentisfree/…
