Sounds like there’s been some discussion between the Oilers and Connor Murphy’s camp. Today’s Babcock news doesn’t change anything as far as the players willingness to consider a return to the Oilers, but term and dollars will have to make sense based on the market.

Sounds like final details on a contract are being nailed down, but barring a last minute rush wouldn’t expect a press conference in Edmonton until early next week for Babcock.

Can confirm that EDM was NOT the team granted permission to interview Bruce Cassidy, that Kelly McCrimmon referred to.
Meanwhile, Cassidy remains open to an interview in EDM, but requires said permission.

Kelly McCrimmon said the Golden Knights granted Bruce Cassidy permission to interview with a team, “near the middle” of the Cup Final series, but that it did not come to fruition.
He said moving forward they'll deal with it on a case by case basis.

While there’s no timeline set for the NHL/Babcock investigation (“it’ll be over when it’s over,” a league source told me this evening), there’s growing belief within the Oilers that it’s going to happen. So, we shall see.

First trade by #Leafs GM John Chayka is a dud. TOR trades Joseph Woll instead of injury-prone Anthony Stolarz, along w/Simon Benoit. Emil Andrae is a decent undersized puck mover, but G Samuel Ersson is a downgrade, & a 3rd rounder is not enough to make up the difference.
