I don't think people realize how incredible it is that a movie rendered in nearly real-time in free software on a single computer just won the Oscar for best animated film. If there was ever any proof you don't need AI, this is it.

Flow was made entirely with Blender and rendered in real time with EEVEE. We didn't use a renderfarm. The final render was done on my PC. There was no compositing, all the colors were tweaked and adjusted using shaders.

Reminder that FLOW got made because Gints made his own luck. He didn’t wait for someone to open the door. Four years of making a truly no budget independent film (that was also great). He just won the Academy Award. Go make your thing.

Instead of going to filmschool, I made my first feature film Away which I started at 20 and finished at 24. I think the best way to learn is by making films so I did everything on my own. It went on to win the Contrechamp award in Annecy which gave me the opportunity to make Flow

Miami desperately needs better public transit options. Yesterday omw to SOBEWFF I drove 10 miles to park in midtown then Ubered to the beach to avoid the parking fiasco. It took me an HOUR AND A HALF to go 6.5 miles from Midtown to Miami Beach.
