@JeffVanderstelt It's the only thing we have seen and don't know how to do anything different and scared to experiment with something new.

Of all the learning methods, lecture is the least effective (5% retention) of them all. If this is the case why do we still do so much of it in the church?

When I teach on Spiritual Gifts I share: 1) God gives people as gifts (Eph 4 - people gifts APEST); 2) God gifts people with gifts (Romans 12 skill gifts); and God gifts /empowers people for a given moment (1 Cor. 12 manifestation gifts).

The most valuable class I took in school may have been keyboarding. I use it every day.

@reachjulieroys into helping tangible need. We don't talk about that when we bash mega churche pastors. Several serve in quiet or secret ways that never get publicized. I know first hand. But we need them as an enemy so we can fundraise against them. It is false and dark.

Here is my beef with how some Christians use twitter. I'll tag @reachjulieroys since I'm using her posts as an example. I think Julie does good work, necessary work. Necessitated by the systemic cover up for years of too many scandals. I get it. However: 1/

When you start blending the gospel with nationalism, you don’t just confuse categories—you corrupt the message. The gospel isn’t about reclaiming a country; it’s about redeeming people. This kind of distortion doesn’t stay contained. It ripples out—generation after generation—leaving behind a trail of disillusioned people who think Christianity is about moral superiority and cultural dominance instead of forgiveness and grace. Lord have mercy.

“You know, the Yankees are not a good team. I don’t care what their record is. They have a lot of wild pitches. They make a lot of mistakes in the field. They don’t run the bases very well. And if they don’t hit home runs, they don’t have a chance to win.” -Buck Martinez ❤️⚾️

I'm a fan of the @CliftonStrength. I'm such a fan that I invested the time to become Clifton certified a few years back. One of the reasons I love the assessment is always stays relevant, especially at the level you want to dive into it. A few weeks back, I decided to listen to a few of their podcast episodes on one of my Strengths. I've struggled to understand the "significance" strength/talent over the past few years. One of the things I learned recently was that people with this strength can struggle to take care of smaller tasks they deem unnecessary. I've struggled with procrastination my whole life, and it helped me gain a bit more understanding. So I'm buckling in and spending the next couple of hours on a boring project I know needs to be done this week. I attached a bigger meaning to what it means, worked through this funky barrier label, and am focused on what's ahead. Is anyone else a big fan of Strengths?

The biggest ministry resource your church needs isn't money. It's the time and ability to be strategic.

It's interesting to hear American broadcasters speak about the @BlueJays and @Yankees and suggest it was an utter collapse of NY. Toronto being a good team had nothing to do with it.

@mbird12 I'm guessing it's not like the difference between Baptists, Pentecostals and Lutherans?
