@CathSpence8 Still 2 mins to go & in kickable range. Too long and risky to wind down the clock. The mistake was to let Jalibert run it back 40 yards

In a game where Eng didnt default to the box kick after every breakdown it is ironic that they have just lost because with 2 mins to go, winning....they box kick the ball back to Fra. I have no words......

Menoncello and Brex are the best centres in the Six Nations. And by some distance. Arguably top 3 centre pairing in the world. Maybe top 2.

While I’m a massive fan of England losing, that huge penalty, when England were looking dangerous right at the end, looked like the Italian 6 came in from the side? Thoughts? #SixNations #ITAvENG

Things are difficult, thinking of all my friends and family in the region, and to the brave Americans and Israelis who are working together to make this an immense success. 🇺🇸

@WibbleRugby Agree some of the players look worn out. Esp ITO. Has anyone monitored how much he has played over the seasons?

A thread: 🧵 I just want to put some thoughts to paper, after a second watch of yesterdays ITAvENG game and a lot less emotion. There can be no doubt that this is a dip. I was having a conversation with a mate a couple of weeks ago after the Ireland loss & said this reminds..

@russellearnshaw Respectfully, as an Irish man , give some credit to the progress Italy have made ( over a long period of time ) . Beating Scotland & England were not flukes .

A big gap between what Steve says and what he does. V. good players (and coaches) made to look v. average… sad. Our 2 most creative players brought on with 6mins to go. Louis Lynagh a better player for playing for Italy. Bill a super-fan, no coach dev, RFU asleep at the wheel 🤷‍♂️

@jaredwright17 Really stupid form a player of his experience. Tho it is legal if ball goes backward. High risk play at that stage of the game.

@Rugby_Scoop This is an U10 level mistake - what a shame Wales should have won this. Scotland also scored pushover with someone joining the maul in front of the ball !!!!

Last week Adam Beard gifted France a good 14 points. This week the whole forward pack caught napping at this level? This criminal. Coaching Staff & Player Are at fault here. #WALvSCO #SixNations

@HeTalksRugby How much Rigby has Maro played - my sense is he’s been overplayed for some time ? Any data on that

Here we are again, with more than a sense of de-ja vu about this. Reflecting on another terrible England performance, at least this time I don't have to spend 5 hours on a train back from Edinburgh to compound my misery. Where do you even begin? Personally, I'd do the debrief tomorrow morning/this morning & send them home for a few days off with their families, let them recharge & reflect away from camp, come back Thursday ready to go & rip in again, but Borthwick & the coaching team have some huge decisions to make, not just for Rome & Paris, but how they see this England team going forward into the World Cup next year. The issues from the last 2 weeks are fixable, no need to press the panic button causing hysteria, but the question is, is Borthwick ruthless enough now to do what needs to be done or will he leave it until it's too late? He's in a very good position with a great group of players, a strong coaching team & won't be under pressure for his job, yet .. but changes both personnel & systematically are needed. Might be harsh but I'd drop Cowan-Dickie, just seems miles off it, I'd send Tom Curry back to Sale & tell him to rest for the next 3 weeks - he looks done in & needs to be managed properly, I'd call up Oghre from Bristol & Emeka Ilione from Leicester today to replace them in camp. I'd drop Steward & bring in Hendy or Carpenter, leaning more toward Hendy personally but he cannot carry on as starting 15 any longer. Arundell isn't ready for test level yet, I'd have Roebuck & Freeman on either wing with Murley on standby. For Italy & France as a minimum we have to play Furbank at 15, Fin Smith at 10, Ojomoh at 12 with Lawrence at 13. Borthwick emphasises the need for connections in selection, you've got it there & the handbrake is truly off. In the forwards, I'd drop Maro to the bench for both games - nothing against him, he just looks done in (I think he only started yesterday as it was 100th) with Coles & Chessum starting, I'd have Pollock, Cunningham South & Earl as the backrow with either Pepper/Underhill & Fisalua/Ilione on the bench. We need a point of difference, someone to get over the gainline with dominant collisions, Cunningham South, Fisilau & Ilione give you that - use it.

Winning is a habit. Wales aren't in that habit and it shows. They deserved to win this one just didn't have the finishing touches.

@rugbyontnt Well and deservedly beaten. Our only tactic is to hoof the ball away. Works against weaker teams but once nullified we have nothing else. Very pedestrian backline. Ford has been massively overhyped recently. At least 4 fullbacks better than steward in the premiership
