Thats not exactly untrue. Trump is proof of what Republicans love and who they consider their "constituents". There was a clip of George Bush Jr. when he was running for president that I remember vividly. He was at donors dinners and he said, "This is an impressive crowd – the haves and the have-mores. Some people call you the elite – I call you my base."
Republicans do not see the working class as their "BASE", but they pander for their votes every 2 to 4 years.
If Republicans were patriotic & loved America, then they would be trying to fix it. We have a mid term election in less than 6 months, so this is there time to shine. As it stands, the American people are blaming them for the high gas prices, the food prices & the high energy prices. Unless you have a six figure income, this 💩 is effecting you daily.
Trump said he was going to do something about all three and he did nothing.
I really believe people are going to hold Republicans responsible for this chaos and we are going to have a Blue 🌊 because of it.

I don't know if I would truly call this a victory.
There are 31 Texas State Senator districts with each one representing roughly 815000 people.
Just over 34000 people voted in the special election. Thats just 4% of the districts population. The Republican candidate got 75% of the vote, so he won with just 3% of the 4% who bothered to go out and vote.

I hate to break it to you, but I took the cognitive test Trump has taken. I just had a knee replacement and I am doing in patient physical therapy rehabilitation. Because its in patient, mental fitness is part of the program. Every three months we take that same cognitive assessment the president took.

Now I hope you realize that Vermont & Delaware only have 1 seat in the House each. Maine, New Hampshire & Rhode Island only have 2 seats, so are we supposed to give the Republicans a seat as a participation trophy?
Just because these states appear to Republicans in them doesn't mean there all clustered in one place. If you look at Massachusetts, the western congressional district is actually heavily Republican, but they still voted for Democrat.
