Delighted to host Dr Waleed Ail from the University of Bath who gave students an insight into the study of mathematics at university. He also ran workshops for sixth formers, introducing areas of study such as the Cantor set and pathological functions. @MathsatBath

In October, over 150 Millfield mathematicians took part in the UK Mathematics Trust Senior Maths Challenge. Here are a handful of our Gold Award winners

Fantastic start to the new school year saw Angela receive a Headmaster's Distinction for a magnificent performance in Junior Maths Olympiad, scoring full marks in three of the six questions, achieving a grading of "Distinction" in the competition.

After a competitive night of problem-solving, it was @KingwestonHouse 🥇 who came out on top at Millfield's House Maths Challenge. With @keensElm 🥈clinching second place and Kernick House 🥉coming in third. A huge thank you to all the other houses for competing.

Students met Marcus du Sautoy at Wells Festival of Literature.

House Maths winners - Great House

House Maths 22 has started.

Congratulations to our Gold and Silver certificate holders from the UKMT Senior Maths Challenge. Particular congratulations to Bertie (gold) and Caty and Shun (silver) who achieved brilliantly in the competition designed for sixth form students.

Our first Millfield Maths Challenge in a few years - great to be welcoming so many schools here again with their year 9/ year 10 teams.

Apart from the general pattern, (k!)! = k!(k! - 1)!, the only known solution to n! = a!b! is 10! = 6!7!
