For the fourth time in seven days, I am reporting another woman lost to an act of male violence. The 80-year-old victim of a brutal assault at Bankstown Hospital in the early hours of January 4 has passed away in hospital. She was one of three women allegedly assaulted by a patient at the hospital. She is the 9th woman killed in 2024 and the fourth woman lost to violence in the past week. The accused is alleged to have beaten the victim, hit her head against a wall and choked her. This extremely vulnerable and frail woman simply had no chance. The man is facing a raft of charges and it is likely more will follow.
