Miami-Dade Fire Rescue continues working alongside @FLForestService (FFS) and partner agencies to combat two active brush fires in western Miami-Dade County. According to FFS the fire near Northwest 137th Avenue and Northwest 41st Street, known as the Quarry 2 Fire, is affecting 15,900 acres and is currently 50% contained. The fire near Northwest 122nd Avenue and Northwest 58th Street, known as the Well Fire, is affecting 500 acres and is 25% contained. More than 40 #MDFR have responded, including fire engines, water tender trucks, and specialized resources supporting containment and suppression efforts. Changing weather and wind conditions continue affecting smoke movement in nearby areas. As winds shift, smoke may travel farther into communities across Miami-Dade County, affecting visibility and air quality. Those in affected areas may continue to see or smell smoke. If smoke is present in your area, limit outdoor activity, keep doors and windows closed, and set A/C systems to recirculate indoor air. These precautions are especially important for individuals with respiratory conditions, older adults, and young children. Road closures or detours may be implemented as conditions change to ensure public safety. Smoke and haze may also impact roads. If your commute is impacted by smoke, slow your speed, increase your following distance, and use your low beam headlights.

A very dangerous new nightmare we are living in Gaza City, and no one in the world is paying attention to it. Days ago, the Israeli army installed huge military cranes, each about 30 meters tall, on the eastern areas it controls. These cranes are equipped with machine guns and cameras, and they fire randomly and almost continuously at tents, streets, and exposed neighborhoods. Gaza City is extremely narrow, only 10 kilometers wide. A single crane at that height is enough to expose the entire city from east to west. Every street, every square, every tent, every house has become completely exposed. There is no place to hide, and not a single moment of safety. In just the past two days, three people were killed by fire from these cranes. One of them was sitting quietly with his father in a small café, trying to breathe for a few minutes. Hours later, a 5year old girl was killed while playing near her home. These cranes have turned the entire city into an open field. The latest military technologies are directed at civilians. We have become an open testing ground for their new weapons. The horror is not just in the sound… it is the constant feeling of being an exposed target at all times, where even children cannot run in the street without fear.

Geo Group also asked ICE to remove lines saying contractors needed to follow state and local laws around the treatment of detainees, asked ICE amend language to support its legal position in these cases, and asked that the standards specify that detainees are not employees of the facilities where they work.
